I hear the current offer is around 20k.

That’s a serious pay increase from the pay scale on the school’s website at $9386.
Hope such an increase is given to the coaches of other sports.
Yes, football typically brings in more funds than other sports, but pay scale shows girls basketball paying more than football.

I am not saying you guys are wrong but I have had more than one person tell me Highlands is already talking to Wolfe again and offering him more money.  Maybe it is just rumor, who knows...

Even more money could get potentially difficult with the other sports’ coaches & teachers.

The job may have been too BIG for him.  Pulled down that driveway on Sunday and realized this is more than I bargained for.  For those that think Highlands wants no part of Franklin County you are crazy.  We will see in two years when the Birds drip back to 4A and hopefully they meet in the playoffs.

He was just at State with FC, so don’t see the job being too BIG for him.   I think he showed a lot of character and respect for both programs.  He did not say anything about HHS either way and apologized to FCHS.

It’s actually comical reading some of this. Actually someone texted me 2 days ago and said they heard they were naming a Coach today. It’s unbelievable what some people will come up with. Especially when we have no clue how it works.

You are not kidding!!  It is very comical & unbelievable.

Let’s be clear as this is obviously aimed at me. Nobody said the committee voice and opinion isn’t valued.

And no it’s not a waste of time, these folks on this committee are trying to fix the train wreck that the previous staff left behind. My God my friend, this is Highlands and we will knock the windows out to make sure the committee hires the right coach and staff.

Train wreck?  Based on social media of current players & recent players, it sure didn’t sound like they thought their program & experiences were a train wreck.  And, the players who showed up at the Principal's office to express they were very upset with the decision of them getting a new coach doesn’t say train wreck either.

    Care to elaborate?

I agree with you on the question of why if all coaches were not “renewed” and are waiting to be interviewed by the new HC.

Maybe he is being considered a “teacher” on the committee.

But there were many other “teachers” on the coaching staff too.

Reading between the lines I think Sweeperboy is saying that in reality, the people who are going to make the final call on who gets hired at HHS don't value the opinion or recommendation of their hiring committee.

Then why waste their time.  I guess it would just be for show if their opinions are not valued.

Some of them on the “committee” are DONORS and they valued their opinions when not renewing Coach Weinrich’s contract.

Kinda seems like talking out of both sides of their mouths to me.....

Again, let’s be clear on this subject, this group of people are not “the hiring committee” but are simply doing interviews, collecting information  and recommending candidates.

Correct they don’t make the final call on who is hired, but they are VERY influential to the final decision.  That’s how “hiring committees/“interview panels”  work.

There are people on the “hiring committee” using that terminology.

  9. I’ll join in on the “I heard” train.  I heard the hiring committee is the principal, asst principal, AD, FTFJL president, boosters president, Freshman Football HC, someone from Foundation; not sure of her role in Foundation,  and maybe a community member that was on the last hiring committee.

Did Coach Weinrich (Highlands) win a championship against Owensboro? Also believe he was acting head coach for one as Coach Mueller was in New York due to a death in his wife's family. I believe they won that one too. Weinrich also played on a State Championship team with Chris Wolfe. Wonder how many others did that as a HC?

    Yes, 2014

    Yes, 2012

    Player on 1989 team

Also won a college championship as a player at Campbellsville.

Not sure about other HCs,  but he & Wolfe were on high school & college teams together.

Brian told the kids that he would be coaching against them next year.  He would be a good DC for the new coach but don’t think that will happen.

On the coaching search, I am hearing some interesting names that HAVE applied.

Actually what he told the players is that he didn’t know what he would be doing, he could be watching hallmark movies, he could be going to college games with his wife, he could be coaching in another state, somewhere in the state, or opposite sidelines, he had no idea yet what he would be doing.

Why do you feel that those offenses are a disservice or don’t prepare/develop players? I find it interesting this point of view is never directed to a defensive approach.

It is also interesting that another poster referred to the clientele. I believe they were talking about the players/skills/talents but clientele sends a different message.

Broken Arrow recently let their HC go someone could always reach out to him. Rich Hargritt would be someone else one could reach out to. If you’re looking for out of state people. Dub Maddox. Heck shoot for the moon and try for Kevin Kelly. If you are looking out of state unless they have KY ties getting someone south of TN would be very hard. In state heck go for Mcpeak. Douglas will move to 6A which means going through T every year.

Coverdale found out that other schools and players weren’t going to do what T does. He is an amazing teacher. If a school/players aren’t going to buy in them it’s tough.

Would HHS be willing to give a HC a schedule that allows him to concentrate on football? Put him in the weight room or something similar and make exceptions as far as duties? I have no idea. I just find the whole thing interesting.

I’m curious, what do you find interesting?

I hope Moeller isn’t. With the new RPI system that game cost Highlands a home playoff game not to mention translates to lost revenue. How many RPI points again did we gain by losing to Moeller?

Find a game that you can win in Ky to help your RPI. No reason we should of been traveling to Hebron 2 years in a row. You’re better off not playing Moeller. You got nothing for that!

Coach wanted the players to have a game because they had already missed out on so much this year with COVID rules.  He could have traveled hours in the state and cost money, kept it a bye and no revenue,  or played at home against Moeller with gaining revenue.  Any choice wouldn’t have satisfied the “fans”.  But, his only concern was what the players wanted to do because it was their season.   And he did what the players he asked wanted to do.

  14. Let’s be honest here—obviously Dale is a great coach, but he was one side of the game, offense.  Weinrich was the other half of the game, defense.  The two sides of the game were completely separate. They held separate meetings, separate practices, players didn’t even really know the “other” coach during those years.

  15. Did not see anything that looked like they turned their backs to the “wave” intentionally. Saw CCH raise helmets, yelling/cheering, and ran to visitor side end zone to pray as they should after winning.  Also, saw HHS staff and players cleaning up the sideline.  If there was a “good game wave”, HHS staff was not aware it was to occur because they have participated in this at other games.  I think it’s arranged by the home team since teams are to leave field after game per covid guidelines.
And, the picture circulating in this thread is not the full pre-game; it’s a snapshot!  HHS did pre-game much earlier than CCH.  They finished up as CCH full team was starting their pre-game.  Then HHS did some stretching.  The picture was the transition; not their pre-game!  People arriving to the game just before kickoff would have missed the pre-game stuff.
