  1. In NKY, most schools have not had regular games. I know that a few participated in a holiday tourney at Dayton.

I really enjoyed reading about all the games and teams. It sounds like there are a lot of good basketball teams and players in NKY. I look forward to the threads starting back since I don't get a chance to actually see them. Thanks for the reply.

  2. Fleming County will be in Frankfort December 29-30 at Elkhorn Middle School for a tournament. We played there last year and I believe they called it the Toyota Classic (if I remember correcctly).

Is that the same tournament, Mr. Slate? Do you know who all will be there? Last year, it was the Frankfort City and Franklin County schools plus Shelby West and Anderson County and maybe some more.

  3. HHS is Highlands High School so that was a mistake. Highlands Middle school is HMS obviously.

Thanks. I am not from there, but I know you all have so many teams, there could have been both. Thanks for the help.

One of my best friends, Elgin Emmons, was the Highlands HS principal. He just retired a couple of years ago. We graduated from Fleming County HS togther (a long time ago). He's a great guy. His wife just passed away a month or so ago.

    Thanks again.

  4. I remember a time in the 60's when Bryan Station was in the 10th, so it is (was) possible to split the city schools. As far as bus rides, I am from Fleming County and our kids rode a bus 4 1/2 hours to play football in 2007 at Cawood. The schools in Harlan County consolidated and they made that bus ride to our place in 2008. That's a long ride.

  5. Hazard shots the ball really well. They play Shelby West tonight in the play in game. I hear they are pretty good.

Shelby West is a very good team. They are very athletic and have pretty good size. They rebound the ball really well. They would be good competition for any 7th grade team. Fleming County played them in November (a long time ago now) in the finals of a tournament in Frankfort.

  6. Our team played at the BCI Middle School tournament this weekend, and again it was horrible. I don't know why we keep going back. The team we were supposed to play dropped out after their first game because of the officiating. They were afraid that their kids would get hurt. After our game today, I wish we would have done the same thing. We shot 6 free throws the entire game, while the other team, who was the much more physical team, shot 22. They had numerous "warnings" to the bench for cussing and yelling at the refs and they even benched a kid for cussing, but never gave any technical fouls to the other team. The game got really bad after that, with that same team tripping, pushing off, pretty much playing football, and nothing was done about. If they don't start cleaning it up, nobody will play there anymore.

By the way - that same rough team played yesterday and took out 3 of the opposing players in that game. Most of the injuries came because of tackles. I'm just glad our team made it out of there without any serious injuries.

What grade level was that? Who is winning in the 7th grade BCI state tournament?

  7. Bylaw 3. Age

    (19) years old before August 1 shall be ineligible for interscholastic

athletic competition. A student who becomes nineteen (19) on or

Just for calrification - this is from the KHSAA handbook - not AAU.

    AAU is September 1.

  8. In KY schools the age cut off is Oct 1.

  9. Anyone have results from Florence 13 and under 7th grade this past weekend?

    Scott County same age group?

Is there a website I can go to to find results. I went to the Florence site and found no results there. Thanks
