  1. Menifee County 87 / Morgan County 48 Final from Frenchburg
  2. There is an old saying that you get what you pay for! In our area, there is not a lot of people that come to watch freshmen games and middle schools do not have very expensive admissions so as to allow parents and students to be able to come to watch the games. Therefore, most schools can't afford to go out and get the kind of experienced and certified officials that are assigned to Varsity games. There are just not a lot of people that are willing to get ridiculed (and often cursed at) for low pay. I am glad when the officials that we have at our games are at least consistent, whether they are good or bad. It at least gives our players a chance to adapt to the flow of the game.
  3. I can't speak for others in the 16th region. But I think that our setup is fair and nearly equitable for everyone. A neutral court with lots of seating in a more or less central location for all teams. It can't get much better than that and I hope it never changes.
  4. This is not the Menifee team of a few years ago. They are very athletic and play extremely hard. I would be totally shocked if Russell wins this game by that margin.
  5. However, the fact remains that home-schooled kids are not using resources that otherwise would have been used in the schools- saving the school district money. Furthermore, the reason why the parent is homeschooling their child is presumedly because they do not like what the school district is doing. The kid should not be penalized for the mistakes of others. You are a bit misinformed about school funding. Schools receive funding on the number of students that attend their school on a daily basis (ADA), not on the number of students that reside in their county or district. When a student is home schooled, the school loses funding for that student. It amounts to approximately $6000 for the year (at least for our district). I realize that many parents pay school taxes based on the property tax rate, but, in low socio-economic areas such as the one in which I live, this local funding is very small compared to the SEEK funding that we receive from the state.
  6. On Saturday (1/17), Rose Hill takes on Raceland (Girls at 2, Boys at 3:45), then Fairview takes on Elliott County (Girls at 5:30, Boys at 7:15). On Monday (1/19), Bath County takes on the winner of the Rose Hill/Raceland games (Girls at 6:00, Boys at 7:30). On Tuesday (1/20), Menifee County takes on the winners of the Fairview/Elliott County games (same game times as previous night). The championship games are scheduled for Friday night starting at 6:00 and 7:30. There ya go.
  7. I spoke with the boy's mother today and she said that he had just pulled muscles and strained ligaments in his neck (similar to whiplash). He is wearing a neck brace right now to provide support and may be able to play in the Christmas tournaments after the stiffness goes away.
