Furthermore, the reason why the parent is homeschooling their child is presumedly because they do not like what the school district is doing. You are a bit misinformed about school funding. Schools receive funding on the number of students that attend their school on a daily basis (ADA), not on the number of students that reside in their county or district. When a student is home schooled, the school loses funding for that student. It amounts to approximately $6000 for the year (at least for our district). I realize that many parents pay school taxes based on the property tax rate, but, in low socio-economic areas such as the one in which I live, this local funding is very small compared to the SEEK funding that we receive from the state.
