  1. U12 Wolfpack beat Central KY Tigers (2nd place D1 last year) and Omega Flight. Tigers by 10????? and Omega by 15????? I heard the Tigers beat Omega by 30+ earlier in the day.

    Anyone see the game??

    Who won the U10 division?

  2. Let me ask a question as I would be curious to hear the responses from the other coaches and parents. With the economy being what it is, has your team or organization curtailed their budget or activities?

We haven't cut back but we are being smarter on where and when we play. The last couple of seasons we would play anywhere, anytime. This season we are mainly looking at the competition level.

  3. I don't know why they don't do more at the KBA. Seems like a waste of a good facility. Maybe they get enough leagues and such there to pay the bills that they don't need to fool with tournaments or other AAU events.

I spoke to the coach of the Cincinnati Knights this weekend and they informed me that someone in their organization is helping with the new management at Sports Plus in Cincinnati. They are really going to start doing it up. Hopefully this will give Dave at BCI some pressure to clean up his act. Check out http://www.midwesthoopsonline.com.

Pouncy of the Tarheels told me the new owner was determined to make this work and to be first rate. He said he is trying pull in some of the top teams in the counrty over the summer months. Should be a great place to get ready for nationals at.

  4. Looking for AAU tournaments in January other than the normal ones (i.e. BCI, Hoops, Mid America, etc.). Anyone know of any?

Sycamore High School in Ohio has a nice one January 2-4. Man to man defense only. They do a nice job up there. Go to http://www.sacbasketball.org for more info. I also believe Sports Plus in Reading Ohio had one in January. KBA usually has a Winter Festival Tournament in January. As one poster said if you can get the Fieldhouse in Indy, they do a very nice job as well. We go up there every summer.

  5. I say, make it all by current grade and you are eligible to play if you would be eligible to play as a senior in high school. Bring a copy of your grade card and birth certificate and let's play! These are the same kids your going to be competing agaist all the way through school. If you can play, you can play! Kids mature at all different ages, i know a 6 foot sixth grader who stayed back this season but already looked like a man last season. It was tough last year and it will be tougher this year but we will have to learn to beat his team some time if we are going to advance because he will always be there.

If there was an age were maturity universally set in then you could say a certain age until they get to that point but it's always going to be an advantage to be older. I don't like excuses so we never bring it up to our kids, execution and effort will overcome alot. If you have to have a date, I think it should be January 1, just like in girls AAU. This debate can go on forever. Just play, and learn to overcome it. It makes victory a little bit sweeter.

Good points. If you going to play against these kids in high school. Might as well play against them in grade school.

  6. Hard to throw the coach under the bus without all the info,, don't you think?

I asked if the other teams are that bad? I still can't believe you hold a team to zero field goals without pressing a large part of the game. Or jumping them at half court like the Wolfpack teams try to do.

  7. Watched some good games at Lloyd this weekend. In the 8th grade division looked like Twenhofel stood out. They have some nice players outside of Racke on that team. They beat Grey by about 20pts. Connor's 8th grade survived a game with Woodland in OT. Some bad coaching in that game for Woodland. In the 7th grade I thought Connor, Twenhofel looked to be the best teams. Walton has the two best players with McNeil and the red hair boy, but their supporting cast isn't very good. Twenhofel would have beat Connor but the coach was letting all his players play lots of minutes. Where as Connor only played about 6 kids all night. Connor has lots of size and speed and should do well this year. Grey's 7th grade won two games but they need a player other than the big kid to step up and play.

  8. Omega Flight( aka NKY Hornets) 6th grade beat the DC Nuggets today by 1.....This was a very good game..Logan Neff played really well today..:thumb:

I agree 100% about Logan, played his tail off. Great game as well. Flight came back in the forth to win. NK Wildcats won the 4th grade divison, beating the Nuggets in the Championship. And got a little revenge on Jackson County on Saturday.

  9. No beer sales at the BCI this weekend, just good basketball and bad refs. 4th grade team to beat look like the NK Wildcats. 5th grade at a 5/6 grade team in called the DC Nuggets with some big kids. I got to see some 8 grade ball. The Wolfpack has talent but didn't play well together. Should be some good games tody.

  10. Things should get very interesting now at the BCI. Dave is selling beer at Sportsville? I know times are tough but this is bad idea. He has youth school teams playing there during the week. Then on the weekend things get heated up already sobber. Wait till one of the drunk moms start yelling at the refs.:jump:

  11. She's a good girl, she puts up with alot, trust me. And she's a trooper on the AAU circuit, never misses a play! and let's me know when I do!:thumb:

I'll go ahead and say this, for the benefit of all the AAU coaches who will no doubt agree, the AAU moms are the best. They usually end up mothering more than their own. Couldn't do it without them!

If your a coach it is worse on the wife. I end up keeping two or three kids after a game and she has to feed 4 growing boys after two and three games. Not to mention take care of our other kids and me.
