  1. I think Hazard might have been a lot better than we were giving them credit for on here. All this talk about LCA not being focused for this game is crazy. If LCA couldn't get focused for the team who knocked them out of a chance to win the title last year, then they've got serious problems. They sure seemed ready to play last week. Hazard deserves some credit for being one of the top teams in 1A this year. Congratulations to LCA on the win and another chance at a state title.

  2. Congratulations to LCA. It was simply their year this year. They have a few extremely talented seniors who are facing their last chance at winning a state title. It sounds like they came out on a mission.

As for the poster who asked about stats, the most amazing stat to me was that LCA amassed 460 yards of offense in the 1st half. That's difficult to do and I thought they were on their way to some sort of state record, but rightfully so, the starters didn't play in the 2nd half.

Congratulations to Raceland on another great season. Even though the Rams lost some major talent last year, they still managed to end up the season at the same point as last year's team did. I'm sure the only mulligans they'd like are Fleming and Greenup, but Ashland and LCA were just the better teams. I am sure Raceland will carry on with their offseason dedication and develop another good team for next season. They sure have a good QB to build around.

Lastly, of course, congratulations again to OldRambler. I always enjoy his posts and fans like him make high school football what it is.

  3. One good thing Raceland has going for them is that ALL of the pressure in this game is on LCA. In 2007, they nearly suffered a playoff loss to a Raceland team they had beaten by 35 in the regular season before going on to lose to Beechwood. In 2008, they lost in the playoffs to a Hazard team they had beaten by 42 just 4 weeks earlier. In 2009, they once again seem to be the prohibitive favorite to win a state title and they beat this Raceland team by 40 a month ago...but results show they have a history of losses and "near" losses just like this!

I think it is VERY important for Raceland to get a "small victory" over LCA early on in this game, whether it be a score, a turnover, or even a defensive stop. That could be enough of a reminder of past playoff failures to allow the seeds of doubt that must be in the minds of the LCA players to grow. That in turn could lead to LCA "trying too hard" and ultimately making mistakes. Raceland has NOTHING to lose in this one.

Whew...you guys definitely serve up strong orange kool-aid! I am starting to go against everything the stat sheets tell me and think Raceland might be able to pull off the upset.

  4. Those who pick Raceland in this one truly bleed orange when cut. Any honest football fan has to admit this should be a destruction in favor of LCA. However, I hope Raceland tries every trick in the book to try to pull off the miracle. Without a few trick plays, onside kicks, fake punts, and maybe even a statue of liberty play thrown in, I don't think the Rams have a chance...but throw in all of the above along with some LCA turnovers and penalties and Raceland might just have a shot! GO RAMS.

  5. First of all, congrats to C'Ville on a great season. The hospitality was awesome and you treated my wife well and made sure she was taken care of while we were taping and getting pre-game taken care of. I know about the incident involving the signs but that does not reflect on the overall experience. Thank you.

Now, way to go Rams! We came out playing well and found away to lay down and let them score 20 unanswered points before we awoke to finish the deal. I felt like we learned how to handle speed and talent because C'Ville had a lot of it. I felt this was the second best team we faced all year, of course you know who #1 is...........lol. I am so glad we have everyone playing well now. Let's see if it makes a difference next week. I seem to recall a 42-7 butt whippin' in the regular season 2007 and and what happened in round 2 of the playoffs that year, too.

How quickly a destruction at the hands of a northern Kentucky team makes one forget about Ashland!

  6. The feed was going in and out RP, I heard what I posted. I was going crazy:ohbrother::lol:!

The feed came back in time for me to hear game over.

I understand. Thanks for the updates throughout, though!

I'm really glad Raceland gets to try their luck at LCA again. The Rams are building a nice tradition and one of these years they just might break through and win "the big one". They often say it can happen when you least expect it, so even though I think last year's Raceland team was better overall, maybe this year's has the intangibles to somehow get it done against impossible odds!

Good luck next week against LCA.

  7. OldRambler, I like you a lot and enjoy your posts, but you sure don't have a career as a play-by-play guy!!! ;-)

The last I saw on the update thread, C'ville had the ball with a minute left in Raceland territory and was driving. What happened to seal the win for Raceland? Late game interception? Turnover on downs? Fumble?

Hopefully you know I'm kidding about your play-by-play abilities, but I am just curious as to how the ending went.
