  1. Pulaski will scrimmage Marion County and Boyle County before the season opener in the Correll Bowl vs Harlan County. The Bowl game should be a very good one. It will be a test for the Maroons defense right off the bat.

Dates? Times? Locations? on those scrimmages.

  2. Lots of teams went home but the final four was set. It was HC, Fairdale, Bell, and Boyle. All others had been eliminated from contention for the championship. Several were still playing for 9th place. Boyle and Bell went home because of the delay for heat and HC and Fairdale waited it out and played. HC won.

  3. Give me a brake. Coach A should go. How many times can you run the ball up the middle. Against Rock #41 had a monster game with 3td catchs. He does not touch ball against HC. Very poor play calling and that is Coach A

#41 did catch one pass. It is hard to throw when the pressure is on a young QB like the other night. He'll get more experience and get better. Many fans see lots of plays stopped in the backfield before they get started and assume that every play is up the middle. There were not that many actually designed to go there.

  4. North and Clay are eliminated now. North could only have 2 wins at the most and Clay could only have one. HC, WC, LCC each have three already. PCC has two and they beath North head to head. If HC wins and Whitley loses then HC wins the district no matter what. If all three win and tie 4-1 it goes to tie breaker. Same situation if all three lose. If all three lose that would force a 4 way tie. If any one of the top three win and the other two lose that team would be the champ. If HC loses and LCC and WC both win, LCC would be the champ. If WC and HC win and LCC loses then WC would be the champ with HC 2nd. I'd say that is every possible scenario.

  5. I thought that Whitley showed more intensity on Friday night than I had seen from them in the three previous games I had seen. That was key. Even with the turnovers early in the game Whitley just did not lose the fire for the game.

Whitley was way more physical than Harlan. Harlan kept trying to clog things up inside and Whitley used their speed on the cornors, although they did run well between the tackles at times and when they got into open field, Harlan had no answer.

They got outside one time. There was a missed tacke on that one. In fact there were missed tackles on three of the 5 offensive TD's. All three of those were on 3rd and long. If those were made and the coverage had not been blown on that one pass then things could have been different. I am not trying to act like HC should have won or anything. But I am just saying that the difference in the two teams is not as great as some would like to believe. There is definitely a huge difference in speed.

  6. I know this thread has nothing to do with HC but just to clarify. No one forgot to put someone back. It was a freshman corner playing his first varsity half who fell asleep when the defense switched coverages. Just for the record.

If the Admirals totally sell out to stop the run they have a chance. Southwestern has really struggled throwing the ball. I've seen no improvement at the quarterback position thus far this season. The only Warrior touchdown pass came when the quarterback retreated 15 yards and threw up a prayer against Harlan County, who forgot to play anyone back with 12 seconds to go in the first half. Somerset really didn't run the ball all that well except for a fluke on a punt and in garbage time--the Ads didn't shut them down but the Jumpers didn't gash them either. I don't think the Admirals will be able to score enough themselves but I think it will be closer than expected. I'll take the Warriors 28-14.
  7. Whoa!! No offense. I just didn't want anyone to think that HC scored on the JV or anything. Easy Big Fella. I like you and I like Lynn Camp don't get upset.

I never said the ball was not moved. I never said that. I did say that HCHS was better than Harlan Ind.

I forgot about the score in the 2nd part of the varsity scrimmage, after the JV played. Sorry. They did not score in the first part of the varsity scrimmage.

As far as not scoring due to the clock running out, missed tackles, defensive mistakes, etc. well, that happens to everyone sooner or later, scrimmage or game. Part of the game.

I forgot the TD BUT, to reinterate, I never said that HCHS dind not move the ball. That is putting words in my mouth.

I also said I thought your Offense was better than Harlan Ind.'s.

    kentucky football,

Where did I say and/or act like:

a.) HCHS did not move the ball?

b.) HCHS had a bad offense?

I did say that HCHS had a better OFFENSE than HARLAN INDEPENDENT and had trouble SCORING (with a mistake on the one td) on CHS.

If this had been a real game, by points, no matter what, CHS wins 2 tds to 1.

I was making the point that if HCHS was having trouble with CHS's Defense, I can't see Harlan Ind. doing it better with the offense they run.

I like Harlan County and where the program is going. I like Larkey. I did not smear either one.

  8. Harlan County did score. It was a long run by McMillian. They also got right down to the well on the last drive and ran out of time. So to act like the ball was not moved is not true.

I was at the scrimmage the other night and got to see both teams. This is a mis-match, even if many people see this Corbin team as a "bad" Corbin team.

Corbin is a tad questionable on the pass right now, but from what I saw when Harlan played Cumberland Gap, Corbin will not need to pass. I can't see the Dragons stopping Fritz or Watkins enough to have a chance.

I don't even know if Harlan will be able to score on the Hounds varsity. Harlan County did not score and are quite a bit better than the Dragons offensively, IMO. Harlan may score on Corbin's JVs late, but that is not a given.

I'm going to say something like:

    CHS 35

    Harlan 06

  9. The same could probably be said for Corbin but Harlan County had 2 major starters out and had some real young kids seeing thier first varsity action, getting lined up late and being nervouse caused some havoc in the 1st quarter, but after that they calmed down and shut everything down inside and out. Other than those 2 long runs I cannot think of anything Corbin did that stood out really, but it was just a scrimmage and neither coach is famous for going out there and trying to light up the scrimmage. It wil be hard to stop Harlan County and their offense on the ground for less than 3-4 yards when they start incorporating thier entire offense when the regular season rolls around, some big lineman and quick backs. A #2 preseason BGP Corbin team and an under-rated #18 Harlan County team, just thought I would mention that since I felt the Bear were a bit smudged in the rankings.

I think Harlan County was ranked #24.:irked:

  10. I am not 100 percent sure. HDE may know, but I don't know if he was tracking that closely last night it being a scrimmage but I am pretty sure that Corbin only had 1 first down after the two long runs. One of those included some missed tackles. Everyone needs to understand that last night there were 2 freshmen who started defense and two sophomores seeing their first game action in varsity. I think there were definitely some nerves early on.
