If I were a high school football player logging on to BGP after this weekend I'd say to myself "Is this what I'm going to turn into as an adult?"

 

Game threads are filled with adults making sure everyone knows that they don't think such and such team is as good as others do.

CCH isn't a power

 

 

Good lord. I'd fail my classes just so I didn't have to be an adult if I thought this was my destiny.

 

Just enjoy the competition and the fun of the game, boys. Ignore us morons online who are worried about our past failures or worried that MY school isn't as good as THEIR school.

 

Congrats to all. From those of us that played we fully respect the commitment.

Agreed, and my comment about CovCath not being a power wasn't me fishing for butthurt in the CCH community. CovCath is a quality team, but I kinda reserve "power" for teams who reach BG with regularity. They're a threat, and never to be taken lightly, but there's a difference between a NKY power and a state power. No offense meant, just a difference of defining the term.

And, no, despite the great run that the Birds had between CovCath victories, I don't consider them to be a power at the moment. My definition is pretty fluid.

What was so great about Covcath's season besides beating Highlands who was terrible? They didn't get past the 3rd round for the 10th consecutive year. If Highlands wouldn't have dropped off so much, Covcath would've been beat in the 2nd round at Fern Creek instead of the 3rd. A successful season at a state power is a state championship. It might have been a fun season, but shouldn't the expectations be higher?

CovCath isn't a state power. They were a decent team hoping to pull off a championship appearance for the first time in ten years. They beat Highlands and had a nice playoff run, so they made strides compared to the last few seasons. Lots of youth on this team, so expectations should be high for this team next season.

Lots of schools in Class A that I've never heard of previously. Sturgis, Hopkinsville Attucks, Franklin Lincoln, Henderson Douglass, Bowling Green High Street, Murray Douglass, Owensboro Western, Paducah Lincoln, Providence, Lebanon Rosewald, Mt. Sterling Dubois, Paris Western, Benham, Black Star, Rosenwald, Lily, Loyall and Wallins ring no bells at all. I'm guessing a few were black only schools. Anyone able to shed any light on any of them?

If you have to ask I'm thinking that's about the fourth bucket for you.

Kudos to Boone's Brandon Morgan for running tough and scoring down on the goal line several times. Those are the hardest 3 yards to gain. The kid just produces. He also got a pic 6 at the end of the first half on an ill-advised shovel pass on a broken play.

This happened right in front of us. Impressive play. His eyes looked like saucers when he made the pick and saw the goal line that close.

Guardedly optimistic for Highlands in this one, but I thought the Campbell County game was going to be a cakewalk, no pun intended.
