  1. This thread is an off shoot from another thread that was talking about some inner program disagreements at Ryle. The open house is just for people connected to Ryle football. It is an opportunity for those at Ryle in the football program to get together in an open forum and ask questions about any aspect of how the program is run. It is to clear the air so to speak about anything people connected to the program are concerned about. It isn't open to the general public. Bylaw 10 has no application here from what I know about the purpose of the "open house".

Thanks. That explains it very well.

  2. Doesn't Trinity and St. X have some kind of Open House for the 8th graders in Jefferson County?

Most Catholic schools in Louisville have schoolwide open houses on a Sunday afternoon in November for students in 5-8 grade. They are not football open houses.

    Don't know about public schools.

  3. I guess the following feel that a 3rd teamer, from KY, must be pretty good:

Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, UNC, State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee

Need to add the Michigan Wolverines to that list. They offered this week.

  4. To promote discussion ... isn't that what we do here?

My primary point was the margins of victory were very similar to what happened in Kentucky last year.

If by primary you mean "first" then yes, that was your "first" point. You then followed it up with these points:

Four of the five state champions were private schools,.

and the lower three classes each had two private schools playing each other..

Seven of the 10 teams in the finals were private schools

The games were more competitive in 2010, but otherwise it was much the same story ... two all-private championship games,

    four private-school champions and.

six of the 10 teams were private schools..

You don't have to be William Strunk to ascertain your "point(s)" in the post.

  5. Perceived. I think many X families and students are not that focused on football as they are playing many other fall sports and winning state titles. X's excellent other fall sports have lowered the talent pool for football. It really is unfair to blame the X football program for its decline given that the reason it has gone down is because of the school's other fall sports success.:sssh:

  6. Two of Trinity's opponents have advanced in their respective playoffs.

Indy Cathedral will play for the state championship this weekend, while the Bombers of St. X are in the semifinals. Cathedral blew out #3 Columbus East 62-7 and the Bombers took out Moeller 35-21.

While it was just a scrimmage, also pulling for the Birds to win 4A.

    Hopefully they all take state.

  7. Head in sand.... I made no mention X does not have non CSAA players.

    Thanks for the concesion.

Now that we have that established, those kids took their placement test at St. Xavier in 2006. I guess X hasn't been as, what was the word you used, "conservative" as you opined. Well, at least not since 2006.

  8. Not sure I follow you but if you think this is the rivalry of even 2 years ago you have your head in the sand. I made no judgment either way just stated facts that it is not the same. Many of the guys you played with would not see the field or the court if you want to talk basketball. What X decides to do is what I am asking. We will struggle to compete if we don't change something. I think you scoring stats prove that as well as provides another "dig".

    Go Tigers

Take a look at X's roster and let me know where the running backs, linebackers and cornerbacks who played Friday went to grade school.

If possible look up these running backs from 2010:

    Lamont McMurry

    Brandon Moore

    Arkez Joiner

    Lemondray Clemons

    Jeonta Hayden

    Devontae Beach

Thanks in advance. Anxious to see what CSAA schools these guys played for.

  9. Hats off to Trinity, they are loaded. I am not sure where this rivalry goes from here if Trinity continues to get the kids they are getting and X stays more conservative on and off the field. We are not playing the same game anymore. Beatty has always had better scheme but not always better players, now he has both. My Tigers will need to make changes if administration decides to elevate football to compete with Trinity or just be 2-3rd best team in state. Jury still out....

    Either way, Go Tigers

    What took you so long?
