  1. They need to be more than one dimensional. Too many 3 point shots. If they can develop an inside game and then free up some open shots outside, they could contend. Fun to watch.

Dont they have some size inside but just young. They have been successful from the perimeter and your right fun to watch.

  2. If the parents have that much influence they must be waving $ or threatening to hold out on the $.From what I have seen with this program in the last 6 or 7 years it appears to be a long standing trend that parents are infecting the teams like a cancer with meddling. My sons have played for one of the other teams in the district for the last few years and I have seen BC have a few really good players but not any good continuity. They never will have it until the PARENTS GET ON THE WAGON OR GET LOST! Western Hills in Frankfort suffered the same fate for years until the parents finally stayed out of the way and supported their coach. They have now built a team that believes it will win when it steps on the field.Your school can do the same if you let football coaches coach and parents be parents, and dont mix the two!

If the parents have that much money they to do something with the field but thats another subject. Your comment is dead on it, you cant mix the two.

  3. All he did was told the kids to run off the field and they got mad and kept walking and then Massie said to hurry up and then as any coach would ... got on them for showing no respect and that's when it all started! What the school system is doing by telling Coach Massie to put them back on the team if they wanna come back is a joke!

    You got that right.

  4. Don't know what they would do?

I see both ends of this as an outsider.

But we don't know what led up to the players snapping off

on their coach- why- what tricked it off or?

However regardless I thought if you slung your helment on the ground

you were gone for good?

Sounds like to me Massie is outnumbered at BCHS with dissenters and sounds like many are not happy or like him...:argue: That is what it sounds like to me.

Just me. I don't know much, so once again that is just me.;)[/quote

You should be done when you throw your helmet or curse your coach, but in Bourbon that depends on the board members and the parents.

  5. I did not realize this made the local news.

I heard several people talking about this over the weekend,

and said they saw this on the news!?!?!

The coach had police escorts to and from practice???

He's a big strong guy, why would he need police escorts?

Was his life being threatened or something?

    Did you see this?

What would happen if that happened in school to a teacher, would the school board be ok with that. They took all the authority and discipline away from Coach Massey who is trying to rebuild a program.

  6. Your quote about the lines is absolutely correct. This game was won and dominated in the trenches. I would hope Evans and his offensive and defensive line coaches will show the Ashland linemen on film as a study session. Ashland exploded on the snap, Boyd's linemen stand straight up and get blown off the ball. Great win for the Tomcats, I think they'll upset Woodford next week and finish second in that district which is impressive.[/

The experiment with backfield doesnt seem it will work, not enough skill by QB. The lineman need to block but the backs need to get with the speed of game and that will come. I predicted 42-14 Ashlands defense is good, but boyd should have scored at least once. Way to go Ashland!!!:ylsuper:

  7. I couldn't tell you anything about any of the kids there. I couldn't tell you who even coached them in middle school. But a school as big as BCHS and your typical "big ole strong farm boys" I am having a hard time with this knowing the size of guys I remember that played at BCHS... and now that these big ole farm boys aren't coming out anymore... Why? And I think that is a legit question.

I'm not going to place all blame on the coaches on here, but it makes me question their PR ability and chemistry they have or don't have with these kids. That is legit to think that too. Or is a combination of both; that and that kids just aren't into it like they used to be, or do they not like playing for that coach or are they emabressed getting stomped every game of the year? However yes if you love the game you play regardless, but you would have to see why different ones up there at The Hill are upset.

Just the whole thing has confused me since this was supposed to be their breakout year, and now people in town are talking about upperclassmen quitting, got kicked off (whatever really happened) - What happened? Why the blowup all of a sudden?

Discipline, when you have kids coming to the sidelines slinging helmets and cursing coaches thats bad. That's what got all this started to my knowledge, massie try to discipline a couple of players and that's when it went south. The board actually reinstated the players after a apology. How do you discipline others when no one stands behind you?

  8. Boyd County does have the best player on the field in Wilson, and now with the emergence of the Arthur kid at quarterback, he's even more dangerous because Boyd can move Wilson around at running back and receiver. Ashland now has to prep for a running QB, and a throwing QB. The Daily Independent had a good article about the Boyd/Lawrence game and said that even with Arthur being "green" and not getting a lot of snaps he played really well and he's only going to get better with playing time. Arthur adds a whole new dimension to the Boyd attack with his throwing ability. This should be a heck of a game at Putnam. I can't wait to see it!

Is the Aurthur kid from Mt.Sterling
