  1. I must have missed where anyone brought up the two losses to St Pat but since you brought it up.....the losses that Bracken had last season against Lewis, Fleming, and Pendelton, and Ludlow, teams that St. Patrick beat, don't help your argument. To say you could were having a bad day in those two games (which was actually three losses to St Pat) may be justified if you had won the above mentioned games. Plus there was a 44 point loss to GRC who only beat St Pat by 3 points.

When you consider how Bracken was rated on this site last year in the region preview (number six) and teams like Ludlow, St Patrick, and Scott were not rated, I would have to say, in my opinion that Bracken was over-rated.

Plus, if you can't seem to "reach " your players when there are on the floor at game time then you have a problem b/c that is when they should be motivated and if they have to be motivated to want to win then you have a bigger problem. That is how I think St Pat is different. St Pat girls don't have to be motivated by their coach, they all want to win and they hate to lose

    Since you brought it up..........

    Thank you.

  2. Well here I go. Last year all we heard was Coach K will do this and do that. He will have them ready to play and so on. Well I watched them play a couple of times and they got blowed out of the gym the first half both games. The girls responded and played even the second half, but they were certainly not ready to play. On the other hand, if you expect to be great every year, you are only kidding yourself. I hope these kids have a good year ahead of them. Good luck.

  3. Coach Kelsch does a fine job, he will have his team ready for the season!

They do need to handle the ball better and cut-down on their turnovers. I would also like to see them develop, if possible, a go-to type of player! Someone who can get them a basket or get their shot off when needed!

We heard these same words last year. I don't think you guys really want to hear the truth.

  4. Sure would have been nice to see what the previous St. pat coach could have drawn up.

It is funny how people will bring this up after a loss. I didn't hear any of this when the girls won the district. On the other hand, I can't understand jerking out starters for over a whole quarter when they make one mistake. This happened several times this year (Clark County, Paris, and Scott were three big losses). It seemed like we were more worried about next year instead of concentrating on this year.

  5. I will admit that I am a little biased towards Scott, but please do not bring the refs into the result of this game. St. Pat plays an aggressive full court man to man which results in legitimate fouls. Scott played a 3-2 or 2-3 zone throughout. St Pat shot a lot of jump shots which does not tend to draw a lot of fouls. I will never say that refs are perfect, but Scott played a great game and lead for 90% of the game. I always tell my daughter that the refs do not determine the final score. That is ultimately determined by the play of both teams. Congratulations again to the Lady Eagles on a great game. Congratulations to St. Pats on a great season.

If you were at the game, which you apparently were not, you would know how bad it was. I agree you should be able to beat some bad calls but 9 fouls to 0 in the second half helped them build their lead. St. Pat got their fouls playing solid defense in the lane and getting called before their was any contact most of the time. I have watched girls basketball in Ohio and Kentucky. This was one of the worst officiated games I have seen in the last 6 years. I don' expect perfection but they should at least make an effort.

  6. I was very impressed with Fleming County's Emmons--she is a great shooter and the Lady Saints took awhile to shut her down. I was very proud of our Lady Saint's; they came out strong against a tough defensive team. All of our girls contribute valuable minutes. Ann is very impressive inside, the Payne sisters play agressive defense and offense, Cora and Molly hustle and rebound well, and Leslie can see the floor very well--I gues that's why she is the Ledger's prep stat leader in assists for the fourth week in a row. Good game for both teams.

  7. If they are so dumb, then why are they making all the decisions? How many people send money to help finance a campaign for these dumb people? How many people show up to see these dumb people when they speak? I don't think they are dumb, they just don't have any common sense. Of course, if you have voted for anyone who ran for president since who knows when. Well, I hope you get my point.

  8. Well it only took 3 weeks for the new president to increase taxes on those he promised not to raise taxes on. $.61 cent per pack raise in the excise tax on tobacco. Does anyone making less than $250k smoke?

You had better get used to being taxed more. After 8 years of neglecting this country and spending all of our money in Iraq and Afghanistan, I can't see any alternative. If you believe what any politician says, then you are just kidding yourself.

  9. I thought Mason County played in out of town tournaments against teams like Lexington Catholic during the season. I believe that is just as tough or tougher than playing Montgomery and Clark two times a year. The Mason girls basketball team had several good years and should have won a couple of region titles but it just didn't happen. You should be proud of their accomplishments instead of wondering what if. Every team has its down years. Remember, athletics comes second to a good education. Its not just about winning a trophy.
