  1. I am shocked by the final score, but how could anybody think Mason would win this game. First of all, they only got to the region by beating a St. Pat team by 6 that shot 4 of 17 from the foul line. Then against Bracken County they won by 2 over a team that shot 15 of 32 from the foul line. I believe the coach should concentrate more on coaching than crying to the referees. Two technicals in 3 tournament games is a problem. As far as the assistant coaches, just how many do you need for high school. If you expect to win every year, you will only be disappointed. Good luck next year!

  2. The games are at the Fieldhouse, which is not Mason's home floor. They've played maybe two games there this year.

Not that it should make a big difference, anyway.:thumb:

I agree. That is why the 39th district should be played there every year. There is plenty of room and parking. Bracken has a nice gym but that is it.

  3. First of all, congratulations to the Bracken County Lady Bears and their coaches. It is a shame that either team had to lose this game. As for the past, that is all it is. As for the referees, it does not matter where you play, there are going to be bad calls. There are several reasons St. Pat lost this game. Some people just don't appreciate a very good high school basketball game, and that is what we got to see. Good luck to both teams the rest of the year.

  4. St Pat got off to a super slow start, looked to be playing not to lose instead of playing to win. But as always the girls find a way to win, excellent defense in the second half was the difference in this game.

Good game. St. Pat was so strong late in the game. Brossart looked good early but faded late, just could not keep up the pace. These girls are well conditioned and ready to play for 32 minutes. Good luck tomorrow night.

  5. St Patrick Lady Saint freshman went on the road and beat Montgomery 43-29. St Patrick started playing some younger subs early in the third quarter, which gave them some great experience in game situation.

Very nice win for the Lady Saints

Glad to see these young ladies playing well. This should give them the confidence they need. Good luck Lady Saints!:thumb:

  6. I really think St. Patrick is the better team but the fouls called early on took them out of their game. They were not playing as agressive as they should because they were afraid of being called for fouls. A couple of players were

in foul trouble in the first quarter and that had them all playing a bit more a conservatively on defense.

I just said the teams were pretty even, which the final score showed. This was a home game for the Saints. If you have watched these two teams play the last couple of years, all the games were pretty close. As far as defense, if you get too aggressive, then you will get in foul trouble.

  7. This was a hard fought game just as I expected. These two teams are pretty even. As far as getting physical, most teams will try to get away with whatever the officials will let them. Both teams received bad calls. The better team, regardless of the officials, will win the game most of the time. This district will be very interesting by the end of the season.

  8. Funny you would mention those two factors when a big rivalry game in the 39th will not take place considering it would bring a large attendence (and revenue). Still can't understand why? Oh well! Maybe in the post season?

I would say it has something to do with the District tournament loss last year. They must still be sore out on the hill.

  9. I hope they change it around as they are a very talented bunch and with a mindset to work hard EVERY SECOND of practice to improve themselves, they could make a deep run in the regional tournament. They don't work hard and they will look back on the season wondering why they didn't.

You are not giving many chances to make runs in the post season of KY basketball when you are a small school and have to work hard to take advantage of those opportunities when you are blessed with them.

I wish them the best but you got to be kidding.

  10. The Lady Saints need only to keep improving on fundamentals. The chemisty is there, these young ladys for the most part have been playing together since the third, fourth and fifth grades. Time will tell but I believe this will be a breakout season for them.

Last year was a breakout season for them (20-6). I think they need a strong point guard and the Hamilton girl to help Klee out on the inside. The talent is there, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
