  1. It does not matter if some are walkons or not, they still are on the roster. Most schools don't have anybody that could even come close to that level. Also, both UK and UL had former T and X players that played significant minutes for them.

This is based off UKs depth chart (so even if most are walkons, they must be doing pretty well)

UK - 4 X or T players listed as second on the depth chart. 1 listed as first.

  2. As everyone has said in the past. St. X and Trinity usually have mass talent, while the public/independent schools have one or two individual exceptional players supported by a mediocre few. After seeing St. X this past year, I am a bit surprised that they did not put more numbers into the DI level of college football. I'm not saying that St.X doesn't have exceptional athletes because I don't get the chance to see them every week to pass that judgement, but there must be some reason the college scouts are pulling from other schools, who knows. And yes, i have to agree that St.X is very well coached talented or not.

Here were the number of players listed on the roster for University of Kentucky and University of Louisville from X and T in 2009.

    Kentucky

    X- 3

    T- 4

    Louisville

    X-5

    T-4

Looks to me that they are putting a lot of kids on college rosters. If they are putting 4-5 kids on top level D-1 rosters (whether they are walk-ons or not) wonder how many you dont hear about going to D2, D3, and NAIA? The argument just doesnt hold weight that X or T dont put out the prospects like other schools. Crazy talk.

  3. Mark it down. Ray Graham will be the next head coach at Franklin Co, Henry Co, and West Jessamine. At first I thought only 2 schools, but I think he is going to pull off the ole Trifecta and coach all three simultaneously. He will have a chance to become the first coach to win coach of the year in 3 different districts the same year. The only obstacle I see, is West Jessamine and Franklin are in opposing districts, so if they meet in the playoffs, he might have to coach one team one quarter and the other team another quarter, etc.

    Just having fun!

  4. Here is what I found on the KDE website:

    Q. Do coaching positions have to be posted?

    A. No. Coaching positions are extra duties, which are considered additional assignments. Posting of those assignments is not required under KRS 160.380(2). However, coaching assignments must be available to qualified staff before being offered to classified staff or para-professionals. For hiring and employment requirements for coaches (head or assistant), including cheerleading, refer to KHSAA Bylaw 27.

  5. It's interesting to read the bolded comment by you. I thought South Oldham had a very good football team as recently as 2006 with a winning attitude. Is my memory failing or did things fall apart since 2006?

Here is the year and the record of South per the KHSAA website:

    1998: 8-3

    1999: 2-8

    2000: 6-4

    2001: 3-7

    2002: 4-6

2003: 5-6 First season for North and the split from South

    2004: 5-6

    2005: 6-5

    2006: 5-6

    2007: 3-8

    2008: 0-10

    2009: 3-8

  6. Last i heard, Asst. Coach Chris Mcnamee is getting a serious look, although nothing is definite just yet. Coach Mac excelled in 1987 when we won our 1st class A state championship by being named 1st team allstate on both defense & offense. Just hope he is as successful in the coaching world as he was a player. Will be glad to let you know anything that may develope.

Mcnamee has already been the head coach at Pikeville and won a lot of games. Never could get past Beechwood. He got ran out of town to Pike Central and did a decent job there. So it looks like he has already been successful in the world.
