  1. .The current setup is geared so the best 'team' makes it to the state, not just the team with the best pitcher.

I like the current playoff just for the reason that a team has to have more than one good pitcher. In the past, if a team had one dominant pitcher, he could carry them on his back pretty far. Now teams either need two dominant pitchers, or an offense good enough to make up for the lack of one.

  2. Predictions:

61st: Semi- Bath over Fleming, Rowan over Menifee

    Final- Bath over Rowan

62nd: Semi- East over Elliott, Morgan over West

    Final- East over Morgan

63rd: Semi- Lewis over Russell, Greenup over Raceland

    Final- Greenup over Lewis

64th: Semi- Ashland over Fairview, Boyd over Rose Hill

    Final- Ashland over Boyd

16th: 1st Round- Ashland over Rowan, Greenup over Morgan, East over Boyd,

    Lewis over Bath

Semi- Greenup over Ashland, East over Bath

    Final- Greenup over East

Not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers, just bored!

  3. At the high school level, if a kid does something that justifies him being thrown at, he should never even have another at bat in that same game. The coach should pull him and explain to him why, whether it be for his actions or his own protection. I realize everybody's opionion of what "justifies" being thrown at is different, but I think a lot of kids getting hit can be prevented by coaches stepping in and providing more discipline.

Now if it is a coach vs. coach conflict, address it after the game. Don't require the kids to do your "dirty work". I realize there are unwritten rules in this game, but I for one know I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I injured a kid just because I was mad at his coach.

  4. I know one of those Titles should not have been if not for some late inning heroics against Harrison County to rally from a 5-3 deficit with 2 outs and no one on base in the bottom of the 7th. If memory serves me right, that is the only time in 10+ meetings that PRP has beaten Harrison County. You're right from 93-98, Harrison County and PRP dominated the state and both have continued to be perennial powerhouses since. Coach Whitaker and Coach Miller have both done an exellent job.

You are correct, PRP and Harrison Co. owned the 90's. With Harrison winning it in '93, '97, and '98. PRP in '94, '95, and '96. And not to mention the '92 team at Harrison had two Mr. Baseball winners on the same team! (Shon Walker '92, Dion Newby '93). I wouldn't have minded to be Mac Whitaker that's for sure.

  5. I think selling season passes is the best way to boost the attendance. People will be more likely to show up if they've already paid for it because they won't want to be wasting their money. Get your kids out early in the pre-season and get them selling season passes. Even have a contest to see who can sell the most or something like that.

Also, when they do show up, make sure there are things that will make them want to come back...such as good food, music, contests/prizes, oh yeah....and GOOD BASEBALL! :thumb:

  6. If the gym is big enough, go over 1st and 3rd defense (runners on first and third) for your infielders. Use your outfielders as baserunners. This is key in high school and will get your infielders, pitchers, and catcher on the same page, so when you hit the field its already fresh in their minds.

  7. The amount of games played and being able to house your team where the games take place are the two main reasons Cocoa is the choice.

I wouldn't necessarily say the competition is that great anymore, however. I've seen a big "fall-off" there over the years. I think most of the KY schools that frequent Cocoa are just used to going there and know what to expect, as opposed to making a change.
