Rock playing a lot of man-to-man. Getting ready for tourney.
Coach Noble celebrated 400 wins and Angie Lawrence celebrated 1,000 point club.
As so often this year, out early and never looked back.
GOOD NEWS for Casey.
Pittman dressed and warmed up with no apparent ill effects.
I know nothing about the situation but looked to me like she could be back in action before tournament time.
A great athlete. Glad she is recovering from the knee.

We will have a more complete picture of Rockcastle in a couple of weeks.
They have only played two top 20 teams so far, beating #7 Scott Co by 25.
(How do your teams compare against that common opponent?)
And they beat #17 Clay Co by 9 at Manchester.
(Some of you may know what playing playing in Clay Co is like!)
But they have these games on their schedule before tourney time.
Franklin Co just out of top 20
Madison Central #8
Bryan Station #15
Elizabethtown #13
Eastern KY schools experience the same lack of respect from the big city papers that some of the NKY schools do.
Diddle should be really great this year.
-
Schedule about to get a little tougher.
Casey on Friday, then Franklin County on Saturday.
Still ahead are Madison Central, Bryan Station, and Elizabethtown.
A great test before tourney time.
Rankings as of 1/19.
Scott Co. 7 (Rock by 25)
Clay Co. 17 (Rock by 9)
Franklin Co just out of top 20
Madison Central 8
Bryan Station 15
Elizabethtown 13

I thought it would have been smart for Coach Noble to strenghen her schedule this year to get ready for tournament. With the competition level down in the 12th region , it might have been wise to schedule some of the top teams around the state.

I am not sure on the timeline for Pittman's return. She tore an ACL, so who knows with those things? Might point out that Rock beat Clay by 9 AT CLAY. We all know 13 region teams play better at home for some reason.
Yeah, for some reason.

Rock 64
Casey 46

Next week they play at Clay County and Casey County.
Those should be tougher games.
We will see.

Never in doubt.
Friday night district game.
Angie Lawrence led with 20.
Sophomore Michaela Hunter had 17.
-
Out 9-0 at the start and never looked back.

Coffman is averaging 25 a game through two games and has led an undersized team to road wins at Danville and at Pulaski. How are Fothergill, Lawrence, and Bowling doing so far?
Lawrence led all scorers with 20 against No 4 Scott County in a blow-out 77-52.
How's that?

Three top twenty teams outside the twelfth in the regular schedule.
The Greeneville Tennessee Holiday Tourney is one of the best in the NATION.
Chrysti knows what she is doing.

Check out the Holiday tournament in Greeneville TN.

Recent Rockcastle Girls Basketball:
When Sarah was in sixth grade, Rockcastle went to state led by arguably the best team ever that included Johnna Abney, (sister of current "Poodie") who went on to MTSU and played in NCAA tourney, Tara Rowe, and Heather Hammond, (sister of Sarah) who was offered WKU but took WKU track instead.
When Sarah was in seventh grade, Rockcastle went to state led by Ashley Lunsford who scholarshipped to Union College. Sara scored five points in their only game.
When Sarah was a freshman, Rockcastle went to state led by Sara Rowe, younger sister of Tara. Rowe was offered a spot at UK but and was a big hit at the Madness event but she eventually declined the offer. Sara scored 20 and Hammond scored 8 in a game that saw them lose a big lead. They won the region on a 31 pt performance by perennial starter Mary Saylor who scholershipped to Centre in softball.
Last year as a junior, Sara and Rockcastle had their best showing at state until the controversial loss. That team included Jackie Alexander, now at West Point on a basketball scholarship.
Yes, Sara Hammond is probably the best player so far from Rockcastle, especially considering her height, but she is one of many in recent and current times that have proven to be quite a bit more than "average".
-
I wouldn't call the team "otherwise average players".
Angie Lawrence is one of the best in the region.
Jackie Alexander is now at D-1 West Point.
Michaela Hunter is a rising star.
They have a bench that would start at most other schools.
"Average"??
-
UK wouldn't stick with Abney and they did Sara Rowe dirty.
Anywhere but UK.

Should be a great year for the Rock with Hammond. Remember, she has been to Diddle three times already. Scored five points as a SEVENTH grader, and played in state as freshman and last year a couple of wins as a junior. AND the sophomore Hunter has been competing in high school sports since she ran on the Rock cross country team as a FOURTH grader. Angie Lawrence is a genuine quality player AND they are so deep that they have some talented seniors not even starting. This will be the first time in what seems like a long time that they may not have those incredible Lincoln County wars that both teams have battled in so valiantly.
GO ROCK
-
What made the last call so difficult was that that was the last of a series of questionable calls throughout the game that seemed to intensify in the last minute or two. Tough break for a great bunch of girls and the best coach in the state.
-
Great Win!
Lawrence off a little, probably from the injury that she is soldiering through. Hammond off a little offensively. But, in typical Rock fashion, Alexander stepped up.
And ANOTHER key contribution off of the bench. This time Sydney Arvin.
Another great TEAM effort by the Rock.
Split with Scott County this year. Losing by 3 at Scott and winning by 14 at Montgomery tournament.
Saturday noon should be a great game.
GO ROCK

The twelfth is really coming on. Look now a couple of years with two and three 12th teams ranked. And this year look how competitive ALL the region tourney games have been so far. And Casey going into final four last year at Diddle. Move over 11th. The 12th is for real.
-
Final of a very hard fought game.
For the Rock, Alexander with 21 and Lawrence with 19.
-
Sorry. 10 lead changes total, 8 in second half.
Oh, and Southwestern beat East Jessamine 61-50.
-
You were right! It was a war! I think about 10 lead changes in the second half.
Lincoln 49 Casey 40. Game was closer than the late run to the charity stripe indicates.
This game and the expected Rock final will prove to be real quality tournament games.
Don't ya luv it?
-
Critical win resulting in possible log-jam in the district.
A good team will not go the region this year.
-
Yes, she and her family made a visit this past weekend! I don't know what you mean about her lacking discipline, she has always been a team player! I have never seen a kid play with so much heart. If you can't be nice you should not post on here.
