  1. High paw back atcha Bayshore. We need to get a couple of more companies on board and we will be playing at Rosspoint next year. I really think that it's just a matter of getting out and asking around. The community support for the school and even the football team has just been overwhelming.

Ross Kegan is a man of his word and Black Mountain Resources has never given a donation this large before. They "get" the big picture. They realize that it's an investment into their workforce. Not everybody wants to go to college and coal miners make a good wage, as they should. They need smart, strong, healthy, and drug free employees to mine their coal. This is a chance to invest into their future and also a chance to show that "the company" really cares about the folks of our county.

Anyone else interested...please make checks payable to...LOL

    Anyhow...back to the bears....

Great to hear that Da' Bears are receiving so much support from their community. The atmosphere in the mountains seems to be a positive one. Good luck with your season!

  2. odessa why would you feel sorry for them they have a chance to become the first winning team in the schools history something that they will forever be noted for. If I was a senior at powell I would agree with the decision because winning becomes contagious and given time coach whitaker will make them winners

  3. Hey-I'm a South Laurel fan, but just looking at all the teams objectively-I snd many more in attendance are in agreement on the Whitley kid-he stood out that day. Hopefully I will get to watch South play Whitley this year. I was told it would be at South-apparently those two teams didn't play each other last year. I had heard that Whitley went 10-0 last season and that South only lost two games last year-so it should be a good game.

  4. I had went to see my nephew play for South. I thought 4 teams looked good-South, Breathitt, Whitley, and Elkhorn. The crowd I was standing with were just stunned by the qb from Whitley. He was head and shoulders above the others-had a cannon for an arm. None of us had seen a kid that age throw so well. Just wondering how old he is and what is his name. Hopefully he's not 16 and in the 8th grade. I noticed Rich Brookes talking to him. I think Whitley lost to Breathitt in the semis.

  5. I think Spurlock is a good coach. He has done alot with the recent talent at Clay IMO. Of course that is not always good enough to satisfy people all the time. What people sometimes forget is that all these people are educators first. Many do an outstanding job in the classroom and teach life lessons that these players will carry with them far beyond basketball. It is sad their extra curricular positions are openly discussed about being hired back or let go.
