  1. I agree. North has some very good players. They are long and get into the passing lanes very well. They forced 31 turnovers against the Lady Bears. Harlan should have won the game but you cant win if you dont play defense! Not to take away from North. They were ready to play!

Tamara Crawford, a transfer from Leslie County, is the glue that Coach Bowling needed for his team. She is a very agressive defensive player and can light it up as well. IMO, a true leader on the court being only a sophomore. The future looks bright for Bowling and company...

  2. Prestonburg's defense made Corbin make long drives and the Hounds have not really had to do that much this year, plus the P-burg defense came up big every time on 4th and short. I can't help but play the old "iffin" game as Jerry Claiborne used to call it, such as; 1. what if Corbin did not have to go 15 yards to get first downs on so many of their drives due to 8 procedure penalties, the 4th downs would already be 1st downs? 2. what if Corbin ever released the TE on the short yardage plays for what looked to be wide open opportunities for scores? 3. What if Corbin didn't turn it over 4 or 5 times???

Congrats to the Bearcats, they did what good teams do by forcing the other team to make mistakes and playing solid, fundamental football

Once again the arm is stronger than the legs, must have some passing attach if Corbin ever wants to end what is now 28 years without a state tiltle. Pulaskia region 5a winner has both a passing and running attach, Somerset the 3a regional champ has a balanced attach,Hazard 1A regional champs has a balanced attach, Prestonsburg is very balanced even Bell County with that great running game is throwing the ball about 11 times a game. It is hard to convert the 3rd and long without a established passing game on a good team, and in the regional finales you are not going to meet any pushovers. But passing only on 3rd and long or playing catch up is not an way to establish a passing attach.

  3. Williamsburg is a mash unit. Moses is doing a great job holding them togeather. J.P. Payne is growing up. They missed Pettit on both sides of the ball. Hopefully they can get by Clinton County and get some of the wounded back for the stretch run. Collins has been a warrior this year on both sides of the ball. Berea played hard and are well coached but still don't have the horses. They have some very good athletes but overall are small. I see them being much better next year. #3 ran by Williamsburg all night and 7 will be a force on D. They could well be competitive in the district next year.

#7 for Berea is a sophomore, he is Mike Whitakers nephew.

  4. Full Metal Jacket can you give us an injury report for the Jackets? Barton is out for the year. Lowery could be back in a couple of weeks. But what about Root? I believe that he played last week but was hampered by an injury. Someone said he pulled his groin.

I'd like to know too. I didn't get to see the game, but listened to it on the radio and I didn't hear his name mentioned much-just wondering if he was injured?

  5. Clay has played one bad team and one really good team, so this game will be against a team somewhere between. The South comeback on Williamsburg was impressive and last week they lost to a very good North team (7-6). I have not seen Clay play this year so I really can't predict this game. The team with the fewest turnovers may just win this game.

  6. Clay has had a history of being up and down. They were tough with Lewis and now start a new direction without him.

Clay needs to win this game to establish themselves after the Zack Lewis era.

Winning this game would take a lot of pressure off the team, losing this game to a small single A school would be a dagger to them. A Lynn Camp win would be huge for their season. This should be a interesting game. Clay has a lot of speed at the skilled position, Lynn Camp will be big up front.

  7. South Laurel will be playing at Letcher Friday night and I don't want to make that trip, so this may be the Cosmos game of the week. The old lady needs to visit the Olive Garden and put on a few pounds, so we will be attending this game. I think Whitley can run with anybody, the key to the game will be Whitleys passing defense and not giving up the big plays. Whitley County wins this one:popcorn: 21-17

  8. Craig's dad thinks his kids should be starters no matter that the young men that the coaches are putting on the hardwood or on the football fields are so much better than they are.I have seen this for many years with him and with many other parents. But parents have got to understand these coaches are out to win state championships not to make parents happy.I would love for my kid to play all the time but I undestand how it works. His sister is a good basketball player look to see her name in the papers alot.

She played 7th grade at Whitley last year, if she is the big girl about 5'10".

  9. I also heard this about Manns but Howington I would think stay on the line I also was told by someone and this rumor that Smith may try andplay but it would be Aug. before he could be ready.

Hope Smith gets well enough to play, great kid and I would like to see him on the field in the future:popcorn:

  10. 1. Moses ------Williamsburg good passer experienced

    2. Haddix-------Breathitt atheletic and surrounded by a great running back

that will draw alot of attention away from him

    3. Waytts------great athelete

    4. Bishop-------Rockcastle won't pass much but should be very effective

when called upon, physically strong, quickness ?

    5. Roark--------Middlesboro started as a freshmen should be solid this year

    6. Lebanion-----Whitley runs the option as good as anyboby, quick

atheletic, has good size is always a threat

    7. Johnson------Letcher Central good size,good arm will be a

sophomore this season played behind Banks last year

who signed with EKU and with the spread offense will

have a chance to throw alot

I'm sure they are more good qb's but these are the ones I have seen, if the Sanders kid at South Laurel decides to play football he may be the top freshman in the area

  11. But, by most people's standards, a player and his parents changing schools because the new school has a better sports program, is not wrong. I consider it advertising. If your programs wins a lot, and is known to be a solid program, more power to you. That is what your goal is. But, it's not illegal.

    I agree:ylsuper:

Everyone wants the best for their kids, and if your kid has talent and is playing for a team that is not competitive and the family is willing to make that move I respect their dedication. And should that kid get a scholarship it is worth the pain.

What penalties should the legislature give those acting above the law by retaliating against the schools that have injunctions from a judge. Who has done the worst a kid or school defying a KHSAA rule, or the KHSAA thinking they are more powerful than the laws of the land.
