  1. Has anyone heard anything about Bieger leaving Ludlow? I'm hearing he said he wouldn't be back.

As it has been stated Coach Bieger will be taking over at Cooper next year and leaving Ludlow. I would expect Ludlow to move quickly to fill this position. Expect an announcement sometime around Christmas.;)

  2. There are five teams. I don't believe that there are any districts larger than five teams in the state at the moment. The teams are Bracken Co, Eminence, Frankfort, Gallatin Co and Trimble Co.

Thank you. must agree with HJ with regards to this district. Very weak with 4 of the 5 teams being mediocre at best in a good year. Besides Frankfort they would all get pounded by the 1A District in NKY as Walton will soon find out.

  3. Did Cooper choose to jump right into varsity play over starting with a JV-type schedule? Or did they not have that option?

Not sure why they chose to jump right into the fire and personally I don't think it was the smart decision on Coopers part. In looking at their schedule it appears they are going to get drilled on a weekly basis with the exception of scheduling a game with Walton, (another 1st year program) which doesn't make a lot of sense on either schools part IMO.

  4. VMA was invited to play in the Queen of the Bluegrass tournament this year and Coach Shields thought that this would be a good opportunity for the girls. So VMA will not host the Holiday tournament this year but will bring it back in 2009.

:thumb:Very good tournament. Good luck to Villa. Sorry that they won't be hosting their tourney this year but look forward to it's return in 2009.

I had heard that another team from up in NKY was also invited to the Queen of the Bluegrass but for whatever reason that schools administrators don't approve of overnight travel. Unfortunate the the team will miss out on this type of positive exposure.

  5. I heard a rumor that Ludlows coach, Jodi might apply? Has anyone else heard that??

I have talked to a few people close to the Ludlow program and from what I understand Coach Schmidt has never expressed any interest in the Beechwood job or any other VB coaching position outside the Ludlow School District. She seems very satisfied with her situation at Ludlow from what I'm told and feels very good about the future of her Panther program. She has been a very valuable asset to not only the Volleyball program but the entire Ludlow School District and is very well respected by students, teachers, administration and parents.

  6. :thumb:How are the numbers going to be down at Ludlow this upcoming year? I have heard from someone who has helped in the past at Ludlow that the boys are very excited about the coaching change and look forward to playing for 1st year coach Rick Hornsby and a return to a more balanced offense. I hope to see the Panthers have a nice year this coming season.

:thumb:I have had the opportunity to speak to many of the youngmen who will be playing this coming year and to a man they are all very happy to see Coach Hornsby take the Ludlow job. Many of the boys who may have been on the fence about playing are indicating that they have much more of an interest in playing this upcoming year. Good luck to the Panthers..

  7. Ludlow completed a very successful week by winning four games this evening to win the tournament of the Ludlow Team Camp. Ludlow went through the week undefeated and by weeks end had won 12 games. Congratulations to all the girls and to Coach Stamm and his staff.

Congratulations to Coach Stamm and the group of boosters and behind the scenes supporters who helped to make this camp a very successful one again this year. The girls and Coach Stamm have a very large and loyal following that are always there for them each and every time they take the floor.

It was nice to see all the teams that participated and their supporters along with some of the various administrators that took the time to come and support their girls. Congrats to everyone involved, it was an outstanding Camp.

  8. I've had the pleasure of talking to some of the players and they are very excited about the upcoming season. I really look for this team to have a nice season and wish Coach Hornsby great success.

:thumb:I know just about all the players and have talked to a great many and I have yet to hear any of them say anything that isn't positive about the

new coach and how they look forward to putting the past 2 years behind them. They all seem very excited as you mention in your post to play for Coach Hornsby.

  9. "Scott looked like they only had one girl that could shoot the ball. Wait a minute she shot it every time." So, what would have been your suggestions, should she have just stood out there and dribbled the ball the whole time. Scott had a very young team out on the floor, and were missing some key players last night.

I know the Tibbs girl did not play and that makes a huge difference for Scott. After watching her some as freshmen I have to believe she will be one of the Top 5 players in NKY next season.

  10. Are these the times for all week??? That would really work for me.

From what I understand these will be the times all week long for the Team Camp. Let's hope they get the A/C issue resolved because it was very hot in the gym tonight.

I was impressed with Dixie and some of new head coach Andy Elkus' young talent.

I also thought Ludlow under Coach Stamm played well in winning both of their games and they will once again be a very fun team to watch in the 08/09 season.

  11. :thumb:I have heard much the same from some of the people I know down in Ludlow. New attitude, new coach, new offense seems to have the kids, the school and the community all feeling very positive about the direction that Coach Hornsby will take the Panthers in this coming fall after a couple of dismal seasons. Good luck to Coach Hornsby and his Panthers..

I have heard much the same and I hope Ludlow is very successful under new coach Rick Hornsby. A quality gentleman who will earn the respect of his players quickly and be a very positive role model for all the players on the team. Ludlow came out way ahead in this situation IMO..:thumb:

  12. Is Borchers still coach at Cooper? I thought he would have quit by now...

    :laugh::laugh:

That's about how hard I was laughing when he turned down Scott for a 1A school.

Bigger does not mean Better. What has Scott ever done that has been better than any single A school?

I think you missed what he meant Hurricane. He was laughing because that shows how unattractive that Scott job actually was. That someone would actually rather stay an assistant for a year at a 1A school, than take the Scott Head Job.

  13. It is easy to see what the problem is, Ludlow doesn'tt play as a team. I have only seen about 5 or 6 of their games this year but from what I have seen there is some talent there but they don't have that one player they can rely on to score 20+ points a game. So Ludlow either needs to come together as a team and compete in Division III or they can continue to play as individuals only caring about stats and continue losing. I'm not trying to take any shots here, but you think Coach Highfield would try and fix this problem.

  14. I'm going to say Ludlow will represent the 9th Region this year based on their recent performances. NCC and Holy Cross both have very strong teams and are very capiable of beating the Panthers if they play poorly as they have at times this season, but it seems going in to this tounament that Coach Stamm has Ludlow clicking on all cylinders. Good Luck Ludlow.

  15. I didn't recieve much detail about the game but I did hear that Ludlow won pretty easily, sorry i can't remember what the score was. Also I believe that Michelle Landrum had 26 points, a season high for anyone on the panthers roster. Michelle could average anywhere from 15 to 18 points a game this season if she puts her mind to it and has some confidence in her abilities.

  16. I believe the young lady your referring to as one of the top 3-point shooters from last year is Michelle Landrum. She has a very nice shot from the outside, a bad shot for her is when the ball touches the rim as passes through. IMO if she's on tonight the Mustangs could have their hands full, trying to defend her outside presence and contain Daughtry's low post game.
