  1. Have you actually SEEN G.J. play to make that kind of assessment?

Yes, he was suppose to be the highlight of a classic a earlier in the season in Lex. and he didn't impress very many people including myself. Were you able to catch it? I just want UK bball back to where it is consistently in the top 10 and fighting for #1 seeds in the NCAA's. We have gotten to the point where we are talking each year whether or not they or going to make the NCAA instead of making a #1 seed or not.

  2. Could it be a Pike County native who coached a team in the Sweet 16 last season?

    Pike Central:

#1 Choice Kelly Wells - Already said thanks but no thanks

#2 Choice Allen Hatcher - Offer on table, but he is playing them to see what kind of money they will offer, but going to say no thanks when its all said and done

#3 Choice Eddie Whitaker - In hopes he will bring his son with him, but he will say no thanks and stay put at Hazard.

#4 Choice - The left overs, the administration think this is a highly sought after job and will find out when they look for a new boy's coach. Same thing happened last year when they ran their girl's coach off.

  3. Why does the KHSAA not allow Kentucky teams to play private teams from outside the state if they are not sanctioned (i.e. Oak Hill, prep schools, etc.)? On the other hand, they allow Kentucky teams to play Australia teams which are on summer vacation and usually made up of players on traveling AAU teams so to speak. This is not even the Australia's teams regular schedule. How does the KHSAA know or think that the Australia teams are sanctioned or if it is there regular high school team and not a traveling all star team on summer break. I don't understand the KHSAA's thinking on allowing one but not the other. We use to have some good matchups with Oak Hill. I hope I made sense on this matter.

  4. Why is Paul Dunbar cancelling games against their top competition? I noticed on here that Dunbar cancelled with Shelby Valley and now Scott County this past Tuesday. I look on the scoreboard and see no make up dates posted. Is Paul Dunbar avoiding their best competition? Is their coach on the hot seat or something and need wins? Just wandering, but they are 4-0 with cancellations against 2 top ranked teams.

  5. Billy G does some crazy things and I think that he likes to put his teams into tough situations. I can see him not praticing a whole lot on a team they are playing early in December and continue to do things in practice that he thinks will help them later. He will sacrifice a win for a lesson, like it or not.

This team is aweful painful to watch, but I feel like he will have them just where he wants them in February.

He may sacrafice his job if he don't get things turned around by the end of next season. His teams defense is too predictable. Man-to-man entire game with only and man full court press if they are desperate. Not much to prepare for if you are an opposing coach and team.

I also think he wants to start Liggins, but Liggins refusal to go in the other night kind of did this in for him to start anytime soon.

Gillespie was quoted numerous times in the preseason that this team would be longer, faster, quicker, stronger and much improved. The only thing they look like is longer to me.

  6. I hope UK doesn't schedule football and basketball games back-to-back ever again. I get mad, upset, and depressed watching the football game and then I have to watch this ugly exhibition of basketball right after it and get even more mad, upset, and depressed.

    Is the Ridge open tonight?

  7. Elliott should win this easily. Madisonville lost 4 of 5 starters from last years team plus their first reserve off the bench. Jon Hood is very short handed for his senior year.

Elliott should have played Scott Co. in this one but for some reason Coach Mays requested to Sheldon Clark staff that they not play Scott Co. I can't figure that one out because it is only a scrimmage.

Anyways, good luck to both teams and our future wildcat Mr. Hood.

What do you think the outcome of this one will be?? Elliott plays Madisonville in the last game (8:00PM) Saturday of the Fast Lane Classic at Sheldon Clark High School.

I will take first stabs. After the impressive 21 pt. win over GRC one might think well they would win by 25-30 over Madisonville. Many don't even have Madisonville in their Top 25. Basketball is a funny sport and I think Elliott will win by 12 points. Hood will see a lot of defensive looks. Evan Faulkner who is a great defender at 6'1" will get the majority of the call. Ethan and Ferg may get some time on him along with Timmy Knipp. Elliott is real good with help side defense and pressure. I still think Hood will get a hard earned 25 points on 8-20 from the field (3-7 treys) and 6-8 from the line. Look for Ferg's hand to be much better and 30 points with 7-12 from trey land. Ethan and Evan should combine for 40 points. Final score: Elliott County 93 Madisonville 81.
