  1. Ok, I get that NKY is in the 9th Region (I have seen a list of schools on the KHSAA website). It is made up of all kinds of different sized schools. Then there is a breakdown into Districts. I heard someone tell me

there is also a conference? The NKAC? Is there a website or anything for this. How do you know who is in who's conference? Is this based on geography or size of school or what? Any clarification or direction would be much appreciated!

  2. Fair enough. I guess Boone County has open enrollment rules that allow the transfers. In Ohio, you have Colerain football and you have Northwest football. Same district but all the football players seem to always end up at Colerain. Northwests varsity couldn't beat Colerains freshmen team....

Back to this thread and Cooper, I hope kids don't bail out and that they give the new coach a chance....

  3. Shining Stars (Pittman) took some of the most talented NKy girls from the Class of 2014 to Orlando this past week and they're bringing home some hardware! The Stars Blue team won the AAU Division II Championship, while the Black team took 5th place after falling to the Blue team in the Elite 8. Additionally, this talented group of ladies earlier took the Championship of the Silver Showcase and the final four of the Bronze Showcase, all at ESPN Wide World of Sports. In May the same girls won the Ky AAU Division I 1st and 2nd place awards at KBA.

The combined roster is a "who's who" of upcoming Junior talent from Northern Ky, (from NCC, NDA, SK, Cooper, Gallatin, etc. - EVEN Brossart! :thumb:), plus 2 players from Ohio.

    Congratulations, ladies!

Shining Star Sports (Pittman) Indoor 2011/2012 Roster

Congrats to the local Cincinnati and NKY players on a great accomplishment! A lot of talented juniors in that class and on that roster...

  4. I too have had the pleasure of watching Ms Scott play the last couple of years and I'm looking for her to have a big Senior season. Scott is very athletic, runs the floor exceptionally well, has a nice outside shot and is a strong rebounder. The only thing I would like to see Scott do more of would be to take the ball to the basket a bit more than she currently does. I know Coach Stamm is counting on her to be a strong senior leader this upcoming season. Things are looking up in the Cougar program.

Weren't they like fourth in Region 9 last year and won 20 games? I think things already looked good before this good news hit. Coach Stamm has them thinking District 33 title this year!

  5. All I was saying is that the 19-4 record is inflated. Wins of: 78-13, 75-25, 59-23, 68-10, 51-35, 67-48, 68-10, 51-34, 63-12, 71-16, 60-15, 59-23, 73-32, 67-30. Pretty lopsided games beating up on teams that weren't very good. They were one of the better teams last year, can't deny that. I haven't seen them play this summer. I heard they were losing some kids to transfers, and again, they had a big name coach leave. The word is he was leaving because everyone else was leaving also. Maybe he left, they stayed. Maybe they are better than I gave them credit for, and if they are, my bad. Summer ball is hard to judge. It's kind of like NFL preseason, some teams go 4-0 or 3-1 in the preseason and don't even reach .500 regular season, and then some of the studs win one or two preseason games and go far.....this time of year is for game time experience for players of all different ranges and skills....

  6. The top teams are Princeton, sycamore, mcauley, mason, Winton woods for D I. Withrow had an inflated record last year because they are a decent Cincinnati public school whipping up on bad teams. They did nothing come state tournament time. Plus their. Plus their big name coach just resigned. I am not saying they suck, but they aren't a top team....

  7. I'm not sure the answer to your question, but I do know its very tough to judge the summer leagues. Different styles of playing time, some teams bring 15 kids and play them all and others only bring their top 8. Some split squads right down the middle and have different teams show up at different games, etc. I know Highlands beat Glen Este fairly easy. 15-20 most of the game. But I think Glen Este beat Conner last night, who I know will be pretty Competitive over here. Highlands then lost to McNick who Glen Este beat. McNick had their top 8 players and Highlands played up to 12 in that game equally. Just tough to judge.

Yeah, I agree, tough to judge. When I was reading some of that I was sort of dumbfounded. I know Ohio teams much more than I do NKY teams. But I know some of the top NKY teams. Hearing Conner losing was sort of a surprise. But again, which kids were playing and so forth makes the score really mean nothing....but it good for the kids that get experience. That is the great thing about summer ball, kids getting playing time. Doesn't matter if they are #1 or #9 on the bench, playing in a game situation is great for them!

  8. Cooper has hired a new coach. Josh Terwilleger. Welcome aboard coach!

Welcome to Cooper Coach Terwilleger! I used to officiate some of his games in Ohio. He is a good coach, and a great person. He will continue to coach whether up by 20 or down by 20. I haven't heard his name in a few years, has he been coaching in NKY? I officiate girls basketball in Ohio, but have nieces playing basketball in NKY. Hopefully he finds the parents at Cooper to be open to him....Best of luck....

  9. Most parents like to think there kid is the next big star. When that doesnt happen its got to be someones fault. My kid doesn't get enough playing time, or my kids a better shooter it goes on and on. Spend a day at SOAS its relentless. The worst part of the entire Cooper situation is a good chunk of those varsity players are not even coming back and they still lost there coach.

I don't get this. I know she was liked by the players, but why would kids not play if they love the game. Maybe they will get a good new coach. How do you know a "good chunk" are not returning?

  10. Summer basketball scores while interesting are never a good gauge of how a team really matches up against another team. Too many variables.

I agree....while it is exciting when your team is winning summer games, it really doesn't equate to regular season. There are too many variables (vacations, injuries, kids playing other sports, equal playing time, and so on...)....

  11. I believe she left due to some of the childish actions of some adults in the district.

I don't know if what I heard tonight was true, but it sounds like some parents were meeting at each others houses trying to oust the former coach. I hope that wasn't true....especially in front of their daughters. Coaches put in so much time to try to be successful and then you have a few parents who know it all, and ruin it for everyone. Good luck to the next coach that goes there. Sounds like a headache I wouldn't want!

  12. I am from North of the river so excuse me if this is a dumb question....I know KY rules are different and KY H.S. teams

can practice pretty much year round. Will these team camps or shoot outs continue all summer long? If they do, I hope

people post where they are because I always like to see a good game/games.....thanks!

  13. It must be a thrill to have two sets of twins that will all lace them up on the collegiate level. I wonder if the girls have let it be know they are a package deal? I believe Kelsey is the better of the two but how good is Chelsea?

Chelsea is a good role player. She is no where near the level of talent that Kelsey Mitchell is. Kelsey is a very special player that can do a lot of things and make them look easy. She (Princeton) gets a lot of flack in the Cincinnati area for not making more noise in the post season like they do in the regular season. Congrats to both of them if they got offers from Baylor.....
