  1. Way to go Breathitt. The bobcats looked as though they are getting back on track. Congraduation to Coach Banks and the bobcats..... I watched the game and I seen a whole new team. Way to go to Travis Smith and Justin Taulbee. Jade had a rough time with several turnovers he struggles and it was wise to put Justin H as point guard. They were playing team ball and Travis was showing leadership qualities tonight.

  2. Not sure how losing 3 starters, Noble and the two brothers, will somehow help the team but I suppose time will tell. I don't think it's a football issue either. Those boys sure didn't seem to have any issues playing for Holcomb.

THats because their football players 1st.,they have young players that I think are better basketball players if given egual playing time.

  3. Both Fugate boys have left the team. It's so very frustrating to not be able to sustain a stable program in Breathitt Boys Basketball. Changes in administration and different connections and pressures end up gutting us every 3 years or so. They should have left Baker alone, he had resurected the program and had it moving toward the top. But ( change in administration)some were determined to see him gone and Coach Hall came along. Two great years then a rebuilding season (and a change in administration) and they sent him packing. They should have left him in place. It's a mess really, attendence is way off and I 'm not sure they will get out of the district. Sad deal for everyone concerned.

If this is true it should help the team IMO. Let the players that want to play basketball play, and the football players stay with football.I agree that the admins. should stay out of Coach Banks way and let him coach the team.

  4. This was a great game. Easy to see that these two teams are two of the best in the mountains. The Warren kid was a big lift for them. Hazard is very physical and gives it on both ends of the court. They go after lose balls and really runs their offense to a T. JBS will have their hands full tonight. Cumberland also is very physical and has a great shot at winning the 13th. Great game overall.

If the Warren kid only became elgible on weds, how could he have been seen in practice on mon., like the TV anouncer stated he saw him, inelgible

players are not to practice with the team.

  5. I've seen Owsley play a few times this year and they can be rough. One particular player will go out of his way to antagonize the other team. I've seen him elbow, trip, shove, etc. all after a call or play was over. He crossed the court and elbowed an opponent who was standing at the foul line waiting for his second shot (a sub was coming in for him) as he headed for the bench. He seems to watch carefully and do this when the refs attention is elsewhere.

I agree he shoves and pushes way to much,For no reason most of the tlme.

  6. It's December--and you are talking about coaches leaving or staying. Owsley County has high expectations ---and so does Coach Noble. Anyone that knows basketball knows the Owls --even though the roster is composed mostly of seniors--currently have limited resources for guard positions and lack of experience in other positions. McIntosh did not play as a 10th grader--Reed did not play much in 10th and 11th grade--Evans is only a sophomore with limited experience handling the ball--but a lot of athleticism. A good point guard would make the Owls --IMO a winning team.--without one--they will struggle-- And by the way--Coach Noble is a class act ---he has proven he can win at the middle school level--and he will do the same at the high school level in Booneville given time---Keep the faith Owl fans, players and coaches!!!! Good things will come to those who are committed and dedicated to doing their best.

Didn't McIntosh play church league ball as a 10th grader?
