Yes, OCHS basketball is not Ballard basketball, but.it is also not Carroll County basketball (much better). The Colonels have had some good runs in the last 10/15 years and that includes a trip or two to The Sweet 16 at Rupp. The OCHS roster does not have to be good enough to win the 7th Region (Ballard has that challenge) but they must be good enough to win the 8th Region (and they will under Chris).

Thanks. Very helpful.

I would think Male would adore this plan to move to the 6th Region. Much easier path to STATE in baseball, basketball and soccer. No impact on football.

Scott Code, a staple in Northern Kentucky, is taking over at Dixie Heights.
What does a “staple” imply? I am not familiar with this Coach.
-
What is the story here? He was there only a couple of years.

I wonder why Eastern would drop down so many classes for a scrimmage?

So basically the Rondon situation may have triggered this move? I wonder what else the administration could do to be more supportive.
What is the issue with the Cooper administration? The school seems to be on the uptick with sports.

Only four home games….yikes,
I looked at their schedule. This is a function of 9 two-year “home and home” series plus the annual neutral site game vs Louisville X. One year 5 home, 4 away and the neutral site. The next year the opposite. But how about the 4 home games - Center Grove, Male, Cincinnati X and Ballard. Big boy football.

2023 spring dates are on there but not 2024.
Then they are tardy. They normally keep that stuff current.

Has Spring Ball started yet? Any updates since workouts have started?
Go to Khsaa.org. Their website shows spring football dates for every high school in Kentucky who chooses to conduct spring football.

Noah = Winner = Real Deal. Where are you Cal?

Rocks cut it to 4 later in 4th but were missing Vasser, their closer. He missed the final 13 minutes of the game.

Lyon County wins this easily and gets mojo going.

Will McCracken ever be a top 8 in 6A? I wish they would schedule at least one of the strong Louisville schools in the regular season.
-
Boy. The Dragons are going to get mauled in their two scrimmages. Hope they come out of those without significant injuries to key players.
-
Yikes. I watched this one. Trinity is big, long, strong and plays physical defense. They flat out get after it defensively.

Next Bulldogs HC in the on deck circle???

What does their varsity schedule look like?
-
They need to “toughen up” this schedule. No way you can be ready for FD, X, Trinity, etc in 6A playoffs by loading up on PRP, North Bullitt, Bullitt Central, etc. Yes, I know there was 2022, but that was lightning in the bottle.

Cooper is a good add.
Did Lyon County have their big 3 when Newport beat them?
-
(Assumes each team is playing with their normal roster)
As we get ready for the post season, these schools haven proven to me to be consistently good- Great Crossing, Lexington Catholic, Lyon County.
These schools have shown me they can beat any team in Kentucky on a given night- Bowling Green, Cov Cath, Evangel, Manual, Newport, St. X, Trinity.
Others? And which of these schools can reliably put 5 or 6 good games together back to back vs other good teams?

Usually JV games aren’t the best indicator for the future but the St. X/Trinity JV game I think will be a good indicator for this coming year. Both teams had a lot of young players playing and the game went down to the wire.
I believe Trinity was 5-0 vs St X in 2023 across F, JV and Varsity. Anyone know how the Tigers did vs Male and Manual at all 3 levels?
9th Region Off-Season Discussion (2024-2025)

I hear 2 things going on in the 9th
1. A feeling that Cov Cath has underachieved in the last couple of years…… a bit of a crossroads?.
2. The “portal” is wide open for Newport. Will the rest of the region stand for it?
