Featured Replies

Ballard 70, Manual 56: The Bruins opened the third quarter with an 8-0 spurt for a 40-25 lead. Lavonne Holland hit two threes in that run and wound up with 13 points.

Manual rallied behind Quintez Thompson and Brian Repishti and got within eight points on several occasions, the last time at 56-48, but no closer. Thompson finished with 22 points, and Repishti scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter.

Sophomores Kelan Martin and Quentin Snider combined for 36 points for Ballard, Martin getting 19 and Snider 17 on 7-of-11 shooting. Aaron Murray, a 6-8 senior, had 17 points and 15 rebounds.

“We’re looking forward to playing Trinity,” Ballard coach Chris Renner said. “They present some matchup problems for us, but we do for them, too."

When I was a high school student, there were few things more satisfying than beating Ballard... and considering I don't think it happened once on the basketball court in my four years at Trinity, it's a rare honor. Knights Hall should be hopping Thursday night. Ballard's got some guys that can absolutely pour it in and Trinity's going to need to bring that same tenacity on defense they showed against Male last night.
