RoundLeather Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Tonight at 8:00 Jackson will be taking on Summerville SC in the Championship game of the Hazard Invitational Tournament. Summerville beat Johnson Central by like 9 and Cawood by 6. Watched the Cawood highlights on TV and saw one of their bigmen take one step, jump off two feet, and dunk two handed. I looked them up on the internet and they played in South Carolina's AAAA State Tournament last year. They are the largest school in the state with a student body of over 3,100. I haven't watched them play but someone told me they were pretty good. So looks like Johnson Central and Cawood held their own against maybe one of the best South Carolina has to offer. I just hope Jackson sticks to their game plan and stand toe to toe with them. I don't like to make predictions on Jackson/Breathitt County teams but the board is open to those who do......
RoundLeather Posted December 30, 2005 Author Posted December 30, 2005 Was just called at home and told the game was at 7:00 instead of 8:00. Sorry for the confusion.
firebird Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Summersville won the South Carolina State 4A football championship this past season. They are, as you said the largest high school in South Carolina.Their football coach has recorded more wins than any football coach in the nation for a career at either the high school or college level with over 500 wins to his credit. I became familiar with Summersville High School from playing in the Hawaiian Tropic Baseball Tournaments in the early spring. They also have a great baseball program. The player that you spoke of is A.J. Green. He is only a sophomore and I am told he is considered the number #1 prep receiver in the state of South Carolina. He is just a tremendous athlete, as were many of the Summersville players. Maybe Joker Phillips was there last night. Lets at least hope that he could get him away from Spurrier. I did not get to see the Cawood game but I did get to watch the Johnson Central game. Cawood has a very nice team and they must have played a great game to stay as close as they did. I think that Johnson Central may have played the best game they have played against anyone in the last few years except for maybe the game against the Aubrey White led Henry Clay team of a couple of years ago. They were actually up by 9 at the half against Summersville. Summersville is certainly the best team other than that Henry Clay team and the Scott County team also of a couple of years ago that Johnson Central has played in the last 5 or 6 years. They are big, strong, quick, very athletic and very deep. Good luck to Jackson City tonight.
Mountain Man Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Summerville is loaded with talent, thats for sure. 5 dunks last night in the game. You just dont see that in EKY. Im not seeing how they are up there in South Carolina though. I just dont see how that is when they arent blowing their competion out of the water in this tourny, but one thing is for sure, they are a blast to watch. They have some athletes. Im going to take Summerville by 13 in this one, but would love for Jackson to pull it out. Man what a confidence booster:-)
From The Heart Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Does anyone know the results of this game today?
