Movement: The final six weeks of the year are largely reserved for national and local tournaments. The early results moved Artesia (Lakewood, Calif.) and Westchester (Los Angeles) into the Super 25 rankings after they won tournaments in Southern California. The next rankings appear Jan. 10, 2006.

 

Player of the week: Junior C Kevin Love of Lake Oswego (Ore.) totaled 72 points, 34 rebounds and six blocks in two victories. Love, a 6-10 Preseason Super 25 player, had 38 points on 16 of 25 field-goal shooting, 19 rebounds and three blocks in a 67-53 win over O'Dea (Seattle), Washington's defending Class 3A champion. Love is the son of former NBA player Stan Love.

 

Milestones: Stu Vetter of No. 1 Montrose Christian picked up his 700th victory in a 95-28 victory over Takoma Academy (Takoma Park). ... Larry Brown of No. 11 Westfield (Spring, Texas) and Charles Granby of Campus Magnet (Queens, N.Y.) each won his 600th game.

 

Free throws: 6-10 F Kevin Durant of No. 1 Montrose Christian is averaging 26.7 points and 11.3 rebounds in three games. ... Braham (Minn.), No. 7 in the Midwest rankings, won its 61st straight game, beating De La Salle (Minneapolis) 80-53. Isaiah Dahlman (29 points), who signed with Michigan State, and his brother Noah (27 points), a junior, combined for 56 points. Braham needs nine more consecutive wins to better the Minnesota's boy's record of 69 games, set by Edina in 1968.

Kenny Anderson went to Molloy ... other than when he was there, I don't remember them being on the same level as some of the other NYC powerhouses like King and now-defunct Tolentine.

Ty Proffitt was tourney MVP wth 18 points, while Trey Smith had 17. Jordan Hammonds chipped in 15.

This was a big tourney win for the Cardinals.
