Reed Knight-ed

Raceland coach T.J. Maynard thinks Kentucky Christian University second-year coach Mike Furrey and the Knights are getting a steal in Marcus Reed.

“I think he could play at a higher level, and that’s no disrespect to KCU,” Maynard said on Wednesday before Reed officially signed in the high school library. “He’s got a high ceiling.”

Reed’s breakout game came against Russell near the end of the 6-foot running back’s junior season. He racked up 124 yards and two touchdowns on nine rushes after replacing the Rams’ starting tailback.

“He was always a hard-working kid, but that gave him confidence,” Maynard said. “It was his turn and he really stepped up big and made plays. That helped jumpstart him into (his senior season).”
