#12 GRC improves to 18-2 with a win over Meade Co in the MLK Classic. Adam Fatkin was named the "Player of the Game"

Bopper went down hard with 6:44 to go in the second Q. He did not return to the game. Bryce Garris suffered a cut to the head and had to sit out for awhile. He returned only to get a bloody nose and had to sit again till they could get the bleeding stoped. He is a gusty kid, plays really hard. Loved watching him play.

Every year before the MLK game, GRC honors a distingushed local citizen. This year they honored 91 year old Harvey Robinson. After the GRC players shook his hand, the Meade County team did the same. Very nice and classy move on their part.

Prep Basketball: Cards extend winning streak to 18 games

Adam Fatkin paced the Cardinals with 25 points and was named Winchester Sun Player of the Game following the contest. Fatkin tallied 15 points in the second half as the Cards pulled away from Meade County in the final two quarters. Fatkin just missed a triple-double with 12 rebounds and nine blocks.

“Adam gets better every day,” Humphrey said. “We’ve played a demanding schedule and combined with all of the scouting we do, there’s not a big man I’ve seen that I would trade him for. He’s as good as I’ve seen and he’s having a great year.”

Fatkin didn’t mind playing in back-to-back fashion.

“We’re used to it now,” he said. “We just keep playing as a team. We don’t care who scores, we just want that win.”

Taylor Howard followed Fatkin with 11 points and Bopper Stenzel added 10 despite sitting out the second half. Stenzel injured his knee with 6:44 remaining in the first half and didn't return. Humphrey liked the way his team responded following Stenzel’s unexpected departure.
