First ever meeting between the two teams.

 

Lose one Evans, pick up another. Zach out with broken ankle; brother Jake in for first time after pre-season injury and rushes for 99 yards.

 

North scored on 5 of 6 first half possessions (last possess came in final 30 seconds of half, and they dropped a sure TD pass on that one) take a 33-14 lead into the break. Tied at 7 after one period, but North scored four unanswered TDs in second to blow game open. Waggener scored in final minute of half to pull to within 19 and had the ball first in the second half, but the North defense put them in reverse and two quick scores by Andrew Judd - one on a punt return and one on an interception return - made it 48-14 midway in the third and it was over...

 

Waggener's Cam Newton (yes, he's a QB, and yes, he wears #2) ran, passed, and caught passes so much, it began to appear he was passing to himself... Great athlete and a lot of fun to watch.

 

Mustangs with approx. 320 yards rushing and 157 through the air (did not throw a single pass in the second half).

 

Cameron Renaud was 5-7-0 passing in the first half for 157 yards and two scores. Michael Choe caught a pass for 69 yards and a TD (his second catch of the year - both for 55 yards or more and both for TDs). Carson Yanke caught a 55 yard pass on a fly pattern for a score - his first catch of the year...

 

North's longest winning streak in school history is 8; they go for win number 7 in the current streak next week against district co-favorite Collins at Shelby County HS.
