In my kids case, it has been great, and yes it has reduced time with AAU team, but just since summer tourneys ended which was when HS coach opened up the gym. Free gym time, weight room available. . . What's not to like?

We would be playing on an AAU league now if not for this new rule. But, kids will still flock to AAU in the spring/summer. If anyone gets an advantage here it might be the athletes that don't have other sports to keep them away from the extra time in gym and with coaches, etc.

I think the original concern was coaches would make it mandatory and kids would have to choose between sports. Will volleyball lose players if the basketball coach puts pressure on players to get into the gym for personal instruction versus playing volleyball?
