George Rogers Clark 3 Montgomery County 2

Featured Replies

Brent Stoneking gave George Rogers Clark a big lift in the opening round of the 40th District Baseball Tournament Wednesday at Bourbon County.

Stoneking, a freshman, got the final three outs of the seventh inning in relief of starter Anthony Withrow in the Cardinals’ 3-2 triumph over rival Montgomery County to earn a ticket to the finals. Clark (18-9) will take on top-seeded Bourbon County in the finals set for 5:15 p.m. today at Bourbon County. The Colonels advanced to the finals following a 16-0 shutout over Paris Monday night. Montgomery County ended the season at 12-8.

Saw where Bourbon Co. and Clark Co. are suspended in the 6th inning until Saturday for the district championship (per KHSAA scoreboard). Any ideas on the score of this game at the time it got suspended?

The score is 9-4 in the bottom of the 6th inning with bourbon on top. There is 1 out with bases loaded and the game will resume on Saturday at 1:00

PARIS— A bizarre season took another strange turn in the finals of the 40th District Tournament Thursday at Bourbon¿County.

George Rogers Clark and Bourbon County will return Saturday to finish the game after a 15-minute downpour suspended play with the Colonels leading 9-4 with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 6th inning.

During the regular-season, the two district rivals played just one game because of inclement weather and rain halted the completion of the second meeting with higher stakes involved in the outcome.

After the contest was postponed, Bourbon County coach Nelson Faris and Clark associate coach Rich Barker agreed to resume the game at 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Barker, along with assistant coaches Wally Price and Daren Snell were filling in for Clark coach Larry Allison, whose mother passed away Tuesday morning.
