Grant County takes on Williamstown in game 1 and Walton-Verona takes on the host Pioneers in the nightcap.

Simon Kenton is also hosting the 8th Region Tournament. What are the dimensions of their field? Condition of field? It would seem Grant Co. would be the favorite to win the district. Will probably see them and Walton-Verona advance to region tournament.

Error filled game. (Williamstown had 5 and Grant County 3). Grant County broke it open with 6 runs in the 5th and cruised the last two innings.

 

Simon Kenton 6 - Walton Verona 0

 

Excellent game by both teams. SK made some stellar defensive plays which included Josh Berger on all 3 of them. Berger trough a complete game and looked dominate except for a hiccup in the third inning in which defense bailed SK out. SK scored 4 in the bottom of the 6th to seal the victory.

 

Championship game is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Sk tonight (Thursday). Should be a good game with Goe on the hill for Grant and probably Newberry for SK.

I thought the finals were scheduled for Friday due to GC's graduation.

Simon Kenton 2 - Grant County 0.....excellent game pitched by Vic Newberry. 2 hits, 7 K, 1 BB complete game.....Goe pitched first 4 innings for GC and was dominant. Border pitched the last 3 innings (after catching the 1st 4...a pet peeve of mine), giving up 2 runs in the 5th. Overall a very good game by both teams. The 8th region tournament should be a good one. (Starts Monday at Simon Kenton....draw tomorrow afternoon.)
