I got there late. Heard Shumate pitched well giving ip only two runs. Sounds like Colonel D was shaky. Bombs by Bir and Lankheit.

Colonels better get it together before districts or they will get an early outing by Holy Cross.

I wasn't aware that Bir played baseball. He reminds me a lot of 2005 grad Randy Myers. Holes in the swing but when he hits it it goes. Monster shot tonight. He has gotten a lot stronger since the end of the football season.

I should mention that today was senior day. While there aren't many seniors on this junior-dominated team it's a good bunch of young men from the class of 2011. High quality kids.

What happened to Brandon Ward? Did they move him to jv? Last time I saw him he was getting hits against LexCath but I haven't noticed him lately. Looks to be a promising player.

Ward was moved up after both Rolf and Arnzen went down with injuries but the young man needs AB's, so he was sent back down to JV.

Jack Grosser, Michael Hellmann, Jordan Hoffer, Ken Lonneman, Jack Nienaber, Adam Shumate, Jake Vogt and Nate Zembrodt.

 

For four years we have watched you grow from small but talented freshmen to young men who have gone the distance in the classroom and on the diamond.

 

It has been a joy knowing all of you and hopefully you will return from time to time to visit and to sit and watch a game not as students or players but as proud members of a small but elite fraternity of former Covington Catholic Varsity Baseball Players.

 

Congratulations Colonels on a job well done!

BTW Bir HR went over just to the right of the 380 sign in left center, so indeed it was a poke.

A lot of teams have their "senior day" games scheduled this week---so I imagine that the scores will not necessarily be indicative of the teams performance. And having played against Krumps and having watched my son play CCH for the past several years---you can throw the records out once tournament time comes. It's too bad that HC anc CCH have to play each other in the first round of Districts. They could both contend for a 9th region crown. Considering that one of these teams has to pack it in early this year, I hope that their are no other surprises come Regional tournament time. I'd hate so see another quality team take an early exit
