George Rogers Clark 9 Montgomery County 3

GRC continues to win by beating Montgomery Co 9-3 and improving their record to 4-0.

Game was 3-2 going into the last inning. Montgomery County brought Sam Lee in who was a little wild but also threw some strikes that were called balls. GRC was led by T.K Korb and Anthony Withrow who pitched a solid game. Hobie Hall pitched a great game and had most of the GRC batters confused because he was hitting the corners inside and out. Hall gave up one bad pitch to T.K Korb who hit a two run shot to left Center field. Blake Thomas led Montgomery County with three hits and played a solid second Base. Hobie Hall had two hit's to add to Montgomery County's offense. Sam Lee made an outstanding play in Center. Montgomery County has 2 Sr's on the bench and Sophomores AND Juniors playing except for Thomas who is a Freshman. I look for big things offensively from Korb and Mcqueary this year but over all Clark County is down from last year.

I seen in an earlier post you are from Mason Co. Who is their new coach?

Love seeing this type of score anytime between these two.

Jeff McEldowney is Head Coach now. Coach Murphy passed away unexpectedly. I's there a reason you ask? I was called and told that Montgomery County was beat by Bath County tonight. Can you update us on that game? If true that's an upset!

Montgomery County did get beat tonight by Bath County because of erras that were made in the field. They led most of the game but couldn't pull it out. Sam Lee and Blake Thomas went 4-5 and had three RBI's.Spencer Taber pitched a great game. It's still early so don't give up on them yet.

Article on game:

“You always want to win a seed game if you can,” he said. “The kids came out and played pretty well.”

Both teams scored one run each in the first inning, but Clark (4-0) took the lead for good on a two-run homer by T.K. Korb in the bottom of the fourth inning. Logan McQuerry led off the inning with a walk.

Montgomery County (2-2) narrowed the margin to 3-2 with a run in the top of the sixth, but the hosts put the game away with a six-run outburst in the bottom of the inning.

Robert Hatler highlighted the inning when he connected on a bases-loaded triple that scored three of Clark’s six runs in the inning.

Korb paced Clark’s offense with three hits in four plate appearances and drove in a pair of runs. Tyler Cain also had a pair of hits for Clark. Korb connected on a double in the second inning and later scored on a sacrifice fly by teammate Zach Pasley.

Clark senior pitcher Anthony Withrow started and went the distance for the Cards. Withrow scattered nine hits over seven innings, giving up three runs, two of which were earned. Withrow also struck out six batters and walked just one.

No reason. I knew Coach Murph had passed away and hadn't heard who their new coach was. Was Coach McEldowney an asst to Coach Murph?

Thanks for the reply
