Question about the 1994 Highlands season

Featured Replies

According to the information I have, this is how Highlands' 1994 season went:

1994 Season: 9-3

HHS 26 Paducah Tilghman 6 W

HHS 15 Moeller, Ohio 54 L

HHS 35 Covington Holmes 25 W

HHS 40 Scott 6 W

HHS 28 Conner 27 W

HHS 6 Covington Catholic 42 L

HHS 7 Dixie Heights 6 W

HHS 33 Newport 0 W

HHS 42 Simon Kenton 26 W

HHS 47 Greenup County 19 W

HHS 28 Harrison County 21 W

HHS 3 Covington Catholic 7 L

I assume that the last three games listed were all playoff games. If that is the case, then I must be missing one regular season game, since I'm pretty sure Highlands played 10 regular season games that year. Does anyone have any idea who the missing game was against, and where that game occurred in the season?

Also, was the 1994 Highlands-Conner game won in regulation or overtime?

Highlands had a bye that year when Newport Central Catholic refused to play them following a disputed victory the year before. Coach Schneider and Coach Duffy had a heated exchange, as did many of the Highlands players and NCC players/coaches late in the game when NCC players continued to lay on the field following plays to stall out a Highlands game winning drive. Highlands won on a fake PAT that NCC fans to this day said was trapped, while Highlands fans call it a clean catch. Highlands and NCC did not play the following season and wound up with a 9 game regular season.

I believe it was actually a fake FG as time expired, not a fake PAT.

We have different memories of this.
