What does Bracken County need to do to improve in 2010/2011? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Losing seven seniors, all of whom played huge minutes last year, the Lady Bears will be relying heavily on youth. They've got a lot of talent, but much of it is raw and untested. What will they need to do in order to be successful?

 

1) Sara Sticklen must shoot the ball 20 times per game. Sticklen is as versatile a player as any in the 10th region. She has very good size, can handle the ball well, possesses deceptive quickness, is very very strong, and can play just about any position on the floor for BC. By season's end, she has the potential to be a top five player in the region. But she must assume the role of leadership & quite honestly, needs to be selfish at times. As a long-time observer of the Lady Bears program, I can tell you that Sara Sticklen has the skills and God-given talent to be one of the best three or four players in school history.

 

2) Freshmen must step up. Coach Kelsch will count heavily upon underclassmen, particularly a solid nucleus of talent in the freshmen class. They must be able to provide scoring with consistency.

 

3) Alana Ahrens, a senior with good size down low, needs to be a consistent offensive threat in the paint & must stay out of foul trouble.

 

4) Patience and perseverance. The Lady Bears might be putting their youngest team in school history on the floor during 2010-11. As I stated before, there is a lot of young talent, but everyone must also realize that mistakes will be made by such a green group. Patience and perseverance are needed by everyone involved with the program, from coaches to players to fans.
