CAL got off to a quick start going up 17 to 0 within the first 8 minutes. Newport fumbled the ball on their first two possessions that set up great field position for Cal to get those 17 points. In the second quarter Newport battled back and actually was leading 21 to 17 at the half. The second half was a great half, with both teams playing hard. The difference in the game was CAL's field goal kicker who made a fields goals of 47, 42, and 36 yards away. The 36 yard field goal came with one minute left to put them up 9 with a minute left. It was a great game to see.

 

Good luck to CAL against NCC next week, and great season Newport. You all had your best season in 5 years, and definitely have things moving in the right direction.
