George Rogers Clark 41 Montgomery County 19

GRC scored first and didn't look back. QB Dini had a great night tonight as did Poky Harris, Mason Jones and Cory Rogers. GRC's offensive line is young, but they have really impressed me so far this year.

Montgomery Co's #2, Dodson is the real deal.

GRC is now 2-0, and will face Dunbar at GRC next Friday night.

GRC clearly too big for MC up front tonight. MC with several costly turnovers that hurt as well. Congrats to GRC.

Great game for Andrew Dini! Very impressive passing and running.

Corey Rogers played great on both sides of the ball. He will be a big factor going through the rest of the season.

Did anyone else seem to notice the excess of penalties? False Starts, Facemasks, Ill Shifts. ? I am not sure what GRC total was for first game, but they will need to work on this. It could end up costing them at a critical time.

MOUNT STERLING — Andrew Dini did it all for George Rogers Clark in the team’s successful return from a two-week layoff Friday night. Dini threw for 267 yards and four touchdowns, ran for one score and kicked a field goal to lead the Cardinals to a 41-19 win over neighboring Montgomery County at Cunningham Field.

Clark coach Paul Columbia liked the way Dini managed the game.

“Andrew Dini did a great job,” the Clark coach said. “The offensive line did a great job with pass protection. It was a nice win.”

In the first half, it was all Dini. The senior quarterback completed 11 passes on 16 attempts for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Dini scored the Cards’ first touchdown on a 2-yard run and connected on a 3-yard scoring strike to Corey Rogers that gave the visitors a 12-0 lead.

Dini put the final touches on his first-half performance with a 45-yard field goal that gave Clark a 29-6 advantage at the break. In addition to his passing and kicking game, Dini rushed for 46 yards in the opening half, including a 23-yard scamper that led to the score by Mason Jones. Dini had a 30-yard run and added a 24-yard touchdown pass to Rogers with 2:45 left in the third quarter, giving the Cards a 35-19 advantage.
