The AP had Somerset ranked #4 this past week which I believe was a more accurate than 6th on BGP. Mason Co. is struggling at this time. Even though Mason won this week, they squeaked by the #31 ranked team in 5A whereas Somerset easily handled the #21 ranked team in 5A. At this time in the season Somerset is better IMO. Somerset beat Estill Co. 63-14 last year in the playoffs. This Somerset team is the same team, other than the offensive line. But, that offensive line proved Friday that they can handle all state caliber linemen. So if Somerset has basically the same team as last year, the offensive line is going to do just fine this year, and no team in the 3A east came within 2 touchdowns of them last year, why shouldn't they be ranked as the top team in 3A east this year. I stand by my ranking until proven different.

In 2 weeks, when Somerset and Danville play, a lot of questions should be answered for both sides of the arguement.

I agree. I understand you have a deeper understanding of Somerset and want to rank them higher; I'm waiting for this game to convince me.

No way Estill County should be ranked above Somerset until/if they beat them this year.

It's going to be a tough week for 3A. Add Central and Ballard and they go 0-4. The other 5 teams I would pick to win so 3A could probably go 5-4. The game that intrigues me the most is Mayfield and Tilghman. #1 in 1A vs the defending state champs in 3A.
