After going 1-9 in December, Bardstown is now 2-0 in 2010 after stunning visiting Nelson Co., the overwhelming preseason 19th District fave.

The Cardinals struggled mightily from the field against the Tigers' zone defense, managing nine total points in the second half -- and only a lone free throw in the fourth quarter. Very physical game, typical of 5th Region play and especially so when these two rivals get together.

Freshman Marcus Cosby had 14 for the winners. This is certainly the biggest upset I've seen this season.

Mods: I had a typo on the score -- Bardstown in fact scored 38. Can someone please amend this? Thanks.

Got it for you.

I agree a HUGE upset. Congrats to Bardstown. Low scoring game too.

Yeah, it was not a game for fans of offense, to say the least. Nelson Co. is a sticky defensive team that doesn't score a lot of points anyway, but Bardstown's defense in this one really surprised and impressed me. I can't imagine NC shot much better than 25 percent from the field; I don't have official numbers on that, unfortunately.
