Lakota East 43 Highlands 35 (Frosh)

Featured Replies

The Birds traveled north up 75 and took on the Thunderhawks. Birds jumped out on top 12 to 7 after 1st.

Lakota got hot from downtown and took a 24 to 21 halftime lead. Pretty even 2nd half with the Birds having to foul late and Lakota sealed it making all Fts but 1 in the 4th.

6'4 8th grader Nick True led the Birds with 10 and sevreal boards. Donovan McCoy pitched in 8. The rest of the Bird starting 5 only combined for 6 points.Joe Hornback came off the bench and scored 5 in the 1st half.

Next up for the Birds is Cov Cath next Tuesday in a tripleheadre.

Were you able to get the stats for East? know several of those kids and like to stay up to date whenever possible.

Emrick led them with 13. They had a couple frosh that were moved up to play JV, one of them was Stedman Lowery who played briefly with the Tar Heels.

They had a couple guards that were good shooters and worked the ball well against the Highlands zone. They also had a huge kid named Penzaco and he was about 6'4 250. Nick True, the Birds 6'4 8th grader was battling with him. True ended up getting the better of him individually with more points and rebounds but obviously their hot shooting in the 1st half was the difference in this one.

It was a 4 point game with just over a minute left and the Birds missed a couple good looks and then had to resort to fouling.
