"District" Playoff Games?

Featured Replies

I have a question: when a team is playing another team from their district in the playoffs, is it considered to be a "district" game? For instance, Highlands is playing Dixie Heights this Friday... both teams are from Class 5A, District 5. Highlands comes in with a 2009 district record of 3-0. If Highlands wins the game, does their district record improve to 4-0 for 2009, or do only the regular-season games against district opponents count toward the overall district record?

Only regular season games count toward district standings. Whoever has the best district record at the end of the regular season is considered the "District Champion."

Playoff games are simply for advancing; if Highlands were to beat fellow district Covington Catholic next week (for example) or beat Johnson Central (from the opposite district), then they would be considered "Regional Champions."
