This game is for all the marbles. Union County and McLean County are both 2-0 in the district. The last couple of years Union County has had McLean County's number. Both teams are coming off of wins in district competition. Union County defeated Webster County 41-6. McLean County beat Paducah Tilghman 28-6. Who brings home the district championship?

I don't know much about either team...I see that - from a points perspective - McLean has outperformed Union in games against common opponents Webster County and Paducah Tilghman.

 

But that could be explained simply by the types of matchups...or the weather...

 

Perhaps a more telling question would be this: What has happened since last year's game, won by Union County in a rout, 52-8, to think McLean has closed the gap? Last year, Union outgained McLean about 450-150 yards... It looks as if McLean has about twice as many seniors as Union (17-9)...have those seniors improved that much?

 

Just looking at this matchup from a distance, I think I'd have to go with Union County... forty-four points is a lot to make up from one year to the next...if Union County had completely collapsed this year due to graudation of all their studs, perhaps...but Union County is obviously have a pretty good season. They haven't dropped off - if any - that much.
