dixievb07 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Do high school teams and coaches require their players to play summer ball? If so, what high schools? Do they require them to play for certain summer teams that feed the high school? What grade should girls be required to dedicate theirselves to one sport?
nkysoftball Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 First off, girls should never be required to play only one sport. I don't think there are any coaches in this area that are requiring their kids to play summer ball. I think most of the coaches would like their kids to play in the summer, but the interest level in this area is not high enough yet to where the coaches could even try to make that kind of demand.
Bluespecter Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 The school district where my children go is quite small. Most of the girls' athletic programs see reasonable success. If, however, the girls were required to choose only one sport, our other sports would greatly suffer. Coming from such a small district, our talented athletes have to play multiple sports in order for our teams to compete and be successful. Choosing only one sport is really not an option.
BoCo2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Our girls play multiple sports here as well. we don't make demands that they play through the summer although we like to see them play. I coach a summer team as long as the high school team so that the girls play together more as a team this was the first year ive had a summer team and we did well together
