North Laurel defeats South Laurel 6-2 in the semis

 

Who wins and moves on to the state tournament? They have played twice this season. North Laurel 14 Corbin 0 at Corbin. North Laurel 1 Corbin 0 at North Laurel.

Congratulations to the Lady Hounds for doing what they had to do in order to make the regional finals! They beat South in the district to get a #1 seed, took advantage of a great draw and got it done. They have really stepped up this season and taken some giant steps in that program!

 

I don't think they will beat North, but 2 years ago, I didn't think they could beat South, ... and now have done it twice in two years. Weaver's teams at NL have seemed to step up and play some of their best ball in the postseason, so I have to go with the Lady Jags in this one.

North is the favorite, but the loss of Cordero hurts, of course and Corbin is playing with confidence. Should be a good game.

I really hated to hear that Gloriann broke her hand. She is a tough ball player. All state as an 8th grader 2 years ago, ... hampered by injury last year as a freshman, ... just really getting back in the groove, and then this happens. She is such a versatile player. Solid 3rd basemen, ... is the 2nd best catcher on the team, ... good speed, has power, VERY strong and a very good kid. Luckily, North has a lot of solid young talent, but she leaves some big shoes to fill!

 

(Okay, not literally big shoes to fill Les, but figuratively)
