Hilltopper2005 Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Final from the opening round of the 38th District. Jordan Mynear goes the distance for the Bluejackets and drives in the games only run in the bottom of the 6th. Colton Partin takes the tough luck loss for the Wildcats as he pitched very good, but the Wildcats stranded 10 baserunenrs. This was an excellent game. Nicholas County advances to face Harrison County tomorrow in the 38th District Championship and both teams advance to next weeks 10th Region Tournament at Scott High. Pendleton finishes its season with the tough loss. Senior Patrick Johnson grounded hard to 1st with runners on 1st and 3rd to end the game. Best of luck to Patrick at Cumberland next year and to fellow Senior Travis Rawe.
NKYThreeFer Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 One heck of a high school career for Patrick Johnson. Pendleton just blew too many opportunities in this game. I can think of three times off the top of my head that Johnson and Valentine left runners in scoring position this game, which is something they haven't done all year. Great game though.
Traditorem Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Hats off to Nicholas as well, they have had a good season despite losing 4 players at beginning of the season and the Mynear kid not coming back until middle of April from football injury. They had to pull up some younger players who did a good job stepping in. :thumb:
