Very interested to hear some highlights on this one, as it sounds like a great game. Pretty apparent at this point that Boone has a solid ballclub once again this year despite losing quite a bit of senior talent from last year's squad.

Boone is looking very solid. Their SS I believe is Carroll has appeared out of no where. He can flat out play! Saw him against Highlands and NCC and he was splendid.

I don't do stats but Boone was up 5-1 and Bellevue made a run. Bellevue is an ok team and it's early in the season I know but not sure if the can play day in and day out with these bigger schools. They do work hard.

I would guess that pitching depth will be the biggest problem they have to overcome, but I absolutely applaud Coach Sanders for putting together a schedule like he has this year. A schedule like this will only make his team better and better as they become used to competition like this on a day in-day out basis.

Only time will tell. Lets talk in about a month. Hopefully your opinion will change.

I don't know about that. Pitchers that constantly face weaker competition find themselves able to get by with belt high fastballs, leaving the ball over the plate too much, not mixing up pitches, not slide-stepping from the stretch, etc... - stuff that doesn't work against good teams. Face regular quality competition and you learn - sometimes painfully - the correct and most effective way to do things. Will it turn an Eric Milton into a Steve Carlton? No. But it'll make them better.

I think they have three starters that would compete for starting jobs at any school in Northern Kentucky. Granted one of them (Piper) has got off to a rocky start but is a proven starter and will be fine in long run. He gave up only 3 earned runs against a hot hitting Boone team. Belleve also has a few relievers they are grooming. Again only time will tell but you've already said they are willing to put in the hard work. Hopefully hard work pays off and they will reap the rewards.

I am sure Boone Co has a heckuva lot more boys to choose from in grades 9-12 to field a team.

 

I just watched Bellevue play Highlands through 6 innings and they are very solid, well coached and all of them put their bat on the ball. They will compete at every level and should win a lot of games this season.
