gchs_uk9 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Garrard County improved to 19-5 on the season with a convincing win over the Maroons of Pulaski County. The Lions were never really challenged, racing to a 14-6 lead. Pulaski played a solid second quarter and went to halftime trailing 31-21. Garrard pulled away right after the break, however, pushing the lead out to 46-32 and easing home with an eighteen point victory. It was a solid all-around effort by Garrard. The Lions were led by Hunter Hensley and Tyler Woods who both had 18 points. Trent Prather had a good game, scoring 11. Justin Ray added 8, Evan Preston 5 and Fred Hayes scored 1. Pulaski was led by Tyler Jenkins and Adam Dixon with 10 points each. The stat of the night for Garrard County was committing only 1 turnover the entire evening. Of course the backdoor plays worked great all evening and while Garrard didn't shoot the ball that well from the perimeter, they moved into the low post and scored at will. The nineteenth win for Garrard ties the record for third most wins in school history, matching the 1970, 1999 and 2000 teams. The school record is twenty, a record the Lions will look to tie tomorrow night against Casey County.
