Pulaski County at Garrard County (2/13)

Featured Replies

Garrard County looks to make it two in a row on Friday night when they play host to the Maroons of Pulaski County. This series has always been off-and-on and indeed this meeting comes after not playing the last two seasons. Garrard (18-5) responded well to a loss to Lincoln on Monday by handling Rockcastle on Tuesday night. Pulaski (10-13) comes in on something of a down-tick, losing eight of their last ten. The Maroons did pick up a win over Monticello their last night out.

Historical Preview:

*This marks the 24th meeting between the schools

*Pulaski County leads the all-time series 14-9

*This will be the 9th meeting in Lancaster, where Pulaski leads 5-3

*Pulaski has won the last six meetings in the series

*This has certainly been a series of streaks, with Garrard winning the first eight, Pulaski winning the next eight, Garrard winning one, and finally Pulaski winning the next six

*Garrard's last home win over Pulaski was a 74-67 victory in 1977

*Garrard County's 18 victories are the sixth most in school history

*Three times Garrard has won 19 games in a season (1970, 2000, 2001)

*Garrard has won 8 home games this season, with four games remaining. The record for most home wins in a season is 11 in 2000.

I look for Garrard to take care of business in this one.

I would like for Pulaski Co. to win, but, they have a rival game with Southwestern on Thursday, plus Garrard Co. is better, so I will take Garrard Co. 63-52.

I hope so. Garrard has won nine-of-eleven since the calendar turned to 2009. Those nine wins have come by an average margin of 14 points, so they've done a good job of picking up solid wins - not many squeakers. And both losses (Danville, 3 and Lincoln, 11) were close games the whole way. I think Coach DeForest has the Lions playing well going into postseason. Hopefully it continues.
