Nelson County junior Samantha Drake, who has committed to UK, eclipsed the 2,000-point barrier Saturday in a win against Bardstown. She broke Becky Robinson's old school record (1,800) for most career points by a girls player over the Christmas holiday, and went over 1,000 rebounds earlier this season as well.

 

She is bearing down on the NC boys career leaders for total points. She should pass No. 2 on the list, Mike Scrogham (2,099), sometime next week, and at her current pace should pass Lorenzo Conner (2,270) before the end of the regular season. Barring a major injury, she will crack the 3,000-point mark next season.
