Bardstown 59 Nelson County 58

Featured Replies

Pretty wild one in the Bird's Nest. Damian Edelen had 27 points (6-6 FG, 15-18 FTs) and 9 rebounds to lead the Tigers.

The Tigers made a few runs to edge out to 7-8, but each time the Cardinals would reel them back in. Bardstown held NC without a FG for more than six minutes in the fourth quarter, eking out an 8-point lead, which stood up, but not without a few sweats. The Cards hit a pair of threes in the final 10 seconds, including one at the buzzer to set the final margin. Keaton Hall's FT with 7.6 to play proved the game-winner.

Physical game, with tons of fouls, including three separate Ts assessed to players.

On paper, this should've been a blowout, but you know how rivalry games go. Despite graduating 11 seniors from last year, new NC coach Artie Braden has cobbled together a pretty good team -- much better than I first gave them credit for.

Nelson Co is doing better this year than expected. It is still early, but Bardstown has a ways to go to get to where they were last year. That being said they havent lost in the region and will be contending for the trip to Rupp.

I think Bardstown's biggest problem is they need to quit thinking they're just going to show up and win. Complacency is the disease of success.

That said, they didn't really start hitting their stride last year until after the All A Classic, so they've got a few games left to work out the kinks.
