Tenth-ranked Lexington Catholic, playing without star player Vee Sanford, came within one point of knocking off undefeated Carbondale (Ill.), losing 65-64 on the road. Scott Schuette led a balanced Knights scoring attack with 14 points. LexCath used a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter to get within a point. Sanford missed the game with a knee injury, which isn't expected to be serious.

Too bad Sanford could not play. I have a feeling the outcome might have been much different.
